ALL ABOUT US Film Festival
🎬 Total 4 creative short films, produced by the EM mentees from ALL ABOUT US Creative Camp, were screened on 7 Dec and today’s afternoon. Thanks to all participants for joining us the screenings. And thanks for the mentees, 4 teaching artists and our host – Neha who came to join the after-screening talk in these two sessions.

Each short film has its own characteristics! 𝑩𝒆𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔 is a horror story produced by Group 1 - a group of girls who love fantasy stories; Group 2 choose to shoot a documentary - 𝑪𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑴𝒐𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒄: 𝑬𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒘 share their real stories rather than fiction storytelling, to let the audience know more about themselves; 𝑻𝒘𝒐 𝑨𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔, 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒑𝒊𝒆𝒄𝒆, a comedy produced by Group 3, was a one day shooting that full of funny moment and they enjoyed to film in a fun and crazy way; Group 4’s 𝑩𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒚 had many filming locations, like first time shooting in Chung King Mansion, make things in a small garage in Tung Chung etc.

As the teaching artists said ALL ABOUT US provide a platform for EM youths to express and develop their creativity, explore their interest. It is also a good start to enjoy the creative process. Thanks again for all who joined ALL ABOUT US!

四套「影像無國界」影像創意營學員短片作品經已全部放映。感謝各位觀眾，及參與這兩場放映映後談的少數族裔學員、四位藝術家導師及主持Neha。

每套學員短片各有特色！《Behind the Curtains》是由影像創意營第一組及一班熱愛奇幻故事的女孩製作的恐怖故事；而第二組選擇拍攝一部紀錄短片《Cultural Mosaic: Echoes of Tomorrow》而不是虛構故事，分享他們的故事，讓觀眾更了解自己；《Two Agents, One Masterpiece》由第三組製作的喜劇，用一天時間進行拍攝，期間充滿搞笑，並享受以一種有趣且瘋狂的方式拍攝；第四組《Boundary》拍攝地點眾多，例如第一次在重慶大廈拍攝，及窄小的東涌車房等進行拍攝。

正如藝術家導演分享，「影像無國界」洽好為少數族裔青年提供了一個能表達及發展創意、探索興趣的平台。亦是享受創作過程的好開始。再次感謝所有曾參與「影像無國界」的每一份子！
最後今天晚上（12月8日）一場放映節目！放映越南紀錄片《迷霧中的孩子》及由青年電影人Ahmina執導的短片作品《髒》。

𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐔𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐦 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 Opening Screening was successfully held Last Friday night! Thank you to all participants for joining us.😎

🦅𝙏𝒉𝙚 𝘽𝒖𝙧𝒂𝙦 𝙩𝒉𝙖𝒕 𝒄𝙖𝒏’𝒕 𝒇𝙡𝒚 directed by young director Zeed, and his mentor Eric Tsang of the Young Filmmaker Mentoring Programme shared a wonderful story to everyone. This touching short film follows a young Muslim mother as she embarks on a journey filled with faith, love, and passion, weaving together a tapestry of heartfelt stories. As his mentor said Zeed is a potential and well-prepared filmmaker. Hope he can direct his own feature film in the nearly future!👏👏👏

𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗨𝗦 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰'𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗸𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 👏👏👏. The first section of the community cultural experience programme included guided tours of exhibition, a celebration of diverse culinary traditions, and a series of Human Library sessions. Additionally, there was a community screening featuring short films created by ethnic minority students of the ALL ABOUT US Creative Camp at the RE: Tai Kok Tsui Co-creation Space. 😎
Participants had a wonderful time at the exhibition, relishing the sharing of experiences, delicious Mandi Rice 🍚, Samosas🥐, and refreshing India Chai Milk Tea☕! Through these community events, we fostered meaningful interactions with ethnic minorities.

「影像無國界」電影節2024 | 【ALL ABOUT US Film Festival】

由香港藝術中心主辦的「影像無國界電影節2024」於11月30日至12月15日現正舉行，繼續關注本地少數族裔，突破界限、連結人心。

今年將舉辦五場放映活動，除了展示參加今屆影像創意營及青年電影人短片拍攝計劃的少數族裔青年所創作的一系列短片外，還將放映多部短篇及長篇電影，探討各地少數族裔所面臨的故事與挑戰。選片來源包括蘇丹、法國、越南、美國、哥倫比亞、墨西哥、伊朗及本地等長片、動畫及短片作品。

今年還將舉辦展覽及社區活動，展覽將與中巴混血壁畫藝術家Ahmad Rida Nisar合作，觀眾可以透過藝術家色彩繽紛的作品感受到共融的理念。同時，與救世軍合作的「Hi! Strangers少數族裔生活導賞」社區導賞團活動，將由本地巴基斯坦裔青年帶領你遊走灣仔區，探索彼此文化。亦舉辦「真人圖書館」，讓嘉賓作為一本本書，由「食物」出發，透過互相交流及分享帶出文化交融的信息。

Organised by the Hong Kong Arts Centre, the ALL ABOUT US Film Festival 2024 is happening now from 30 November to 15 December, continues shining the spotlight on local Ethnic Minorities, transcends boundaries and connects our hearts.



A total of five screening sessions will be held this year not only showcasing an array of short films produced by a group of EM youths who joined the Creative Camp and Young Filmmaker Mentoring Programme this year, festival also screens other shorts and feature films from various countries including Sudan, France, Vietnam, the United States, Colombia, Mexico, Iran, Hong Kong, and beyond.

This year, the film festival also includes an exhibition and community events. The exhibition collaborates with a Pakistani-Chinese mixed artist, Ahmad Rida Nisar. Through viewing her colourful artwork and exhibits, audiences can feel the message of inclusivity being conveyed. In addition, we also have the community guide touring event “Hi! Strangers” in collaboration with The Salvation Army. A local Pakistan youth will lead you on a tour of Wan Chai District, exploring the cultural situations of others. For who enjoy networking over delicious food, please be welcomed to join the “Human Library” this year and share the interrelated challenges of cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue through food and conversation.

The programme is committed to developing opportunities for EM youths to share their work, grow storytelling skills and filmmaking knowledge. If you are passionate about filmmaking, we will assist you in achieving your dream! 👏👏👏

The selected applicants will be the director and/or screenwriter in charge of, to offer guidance on, and lead the team in the production of a short film, from concept and script development to casting, directing, and post-production. To create a 15-minute short film, a professional filmmaker will be assigned to you and offer interactive coaching sessions, and production subsidy will also be granted for production.

實現你的電影人夢想💭！「影像無國界」青年電影人短片拍攝計劃 2024 現正邀請有意投身電影業的少數族裔青年報名。本計劃將協助參加者培養講故事的技能、學習電影製作知識並和大眾分享他們的影像作品。立即報名參加！👏👏👏

入選的參加者將作為導演或編劇，負責指導和帶領團隊製作短片，從概念和劇本到選角、導演和後期製作，最終創作出時長約15分鐘的短片。參加者將獲分配一位專業電影製作人從旁協助、指導、進行拍攝，並獲得製作補貼。

🎬 《皇宮之下》Underpalace —— 趙家賢Chiu Ka Yin, 白璟泰Pak King Tai, 李浚瑋Li Tsun Wai
青少年組由趙家賢，白璟泰，李浚瑋的作品《皇宮之下》奪得金獎。順着濕濕黏黏的隧道，一步步解構少年的憂愁，將苦與樂轉化，在虛幻和真實間對上暗號。評審潘達培評價該片，「意念突出，視覺表達強烈。獨白文字成為短片的主軸，承載青春的憂愁。」
The Gold Award of Youth Category went to Underpalace by Chiu Ka Yin, Pak King Tai and Li Tsun Wai. Along the wet and sticky tunnel, step by step, they deconstruct the sorrow of the youth, sublimate pain and pressure, which pair up the codes between the unreal and the reality. Juror Eric P**n said ‘The ideas stand out with vivid visual expression. The monologue is the main pillar of the short film that tells the sadness of youth.’

🎬 《直到我看見彼岸》Before the Box Gets Emptied —— 何思蔚 Ho Sze Wai
公開組由何思蔚的作品《直到我看見彼岸》奪得金獎。該短片通過兩位小朋友的視角描述當下香港的氛圍，講述朋友移民前夕的日常。評審廖婉虹評價，「故事有種淡淡的無力感，連小學生都迫不得已要面對失去的無能為力。特別喜歡片中對畫外音的使用， 令故事增添一點幽默、夢幻及浪漫。」
The Gold Award of Open Category went to Before the Box Gets Emptied by Ho Sze Wai. This short film captures the atmosphere of current Hong Kong, from the perspective of the daily lives of children who are facing farewell and changes. Juror Jacqueline Liu said ‘The story has a faint sense of powerlessness, and even primary school students cannot wait to lose their endless power. I especially like the use of voice-over in the film, which adds a bit of humour, fantasy and romance to the story.’

動畫組由黃曉傑與陳嘉言的作品《夏夢迴》（香港）奪得金獎。該短片通過金魚尋找着答案，形容人在壓抑之下無處可逃。評審馮慶强評價其，「原畫要求、水平可能是近年最高。畫面的縱深度及空間感足夠。金魚、水等意象變化豐富、演繹生動。」
The Gold Award of Animation Category went to Monsoon Blue (Hong Kong) by Wong Hiu Kit Jay & Chan Ka Yin Ellis. The goldfish in the short film looks for answers and strives to return to its place of origin, which hints the oppressed individual who has nowhere to turn. Juror Honkaz Fung said ‘The drawing quality may be one of the highest in recent years. The depth and sense of space in the visuals are adequate. The images of goldfish and water are richly varied and the interpretation is lively.’

媒體藝術組由Natalie Isdoingokay的作品《NEVER HAVE I EVER》奪得金獎。該作品通過兩真一假的破冰游戲與證件相，展示出人的本質與雜質。評審鍾緯正評價，「藝術家通過人工智能動態照片所說的謊言，展現出直面不同年齡自我的勇氣。」

The Gold Award of Media Art Category went to ‘NEVER HAVE I EVER’ (Hong Kong) by Natalie Isdoingokay. It is an ice-breaking game to get to know strangers through truths and lies, in the essence of pure and tainted soul. Juror Bryan Chung said ‘The artist also demonstrated her courage to confront her own “selves” in different ages through the lies uttered by the collection of her AI animated identity photos.’

🎬 Can I Hug You? (伊朗Iran) —— Elahe Esmaili

亞洲新力量組由伊朗導演Elahe Esmaili的作品《Can I Hug You?》奪得金獎。該短片由妻子Elahe拍攝丈夫Hossein如何再次面對自己的創傷的記錄片，而被評審黃修平評價為「在我看過的伊朗電影中，其意義再走前一步，亦同樣引證在高壓環境下人性的堅強和美善。」

The Gold Award of Asian New Force Category went to “Can I Hug You?” (Iran) by Elahe Esmaili. A documentary by Elahe, as a wife recording her husband, Hossein, how he can finally confront his trauma. Juror Adam Wong said ‘I consider it to be a relatively more meaningful work compared to other Iranian movies. I believe it is a work that is valuable and powerful in terms of its ability to express the goodness and virtuous part of human nature.’

【👺日本妖怪多面睇 👻Presenting the diversity of Japanese Yokai🔍】

#國際藝賞

由日本國際交流基金會主辦、香港藝術中心及日本駐香港總領事館合辦，最新的巡迴展覽《妖怪大行進》，將為公眾帶來一場探索日本妖怪及其文化的神祕之旅。由傳統板畫、錦繪，走到日常玩具、電影等流行文化，深入妖怪的迷人世界，與日本古代的超自然想像相遇。

是次展覽由日本妖怪博物館（三次もののけミュージアム）名譽館長湯本豪一先生策展，呈現了來自日本妖怪博物館的收藏，揭示妖怪文化從江戶時代演變至今的歷程、見證妖怪從令人恐懼的形象轉變成迷人、友好的存在，令鬼故事和神秘傳說一度成為日本夏季傳統中的慶祝對象。

透過一系列由平面到立體、多媒體的「妖怪」物品，觀眾得以窺見妖怪的不同形象，同時探討妖怪與日本傳統遊戲之間意想不到的聯繫，進一步感受它們與日常生活多個層面的融合，欣賞妖怪藝術品的多樣性與想像力。

香港藝術中心邀請各位一同揭示妖怪文化的永恆魅力，參與這場超越世代和國界的神秘之旅，沉浸於日本超自然遺產的奧秘之中。

Organised by the Japan Foundation and co-presented by the Hong Kong Arts Centre and the Consulate General of Japan in Hong Kong, the latest touring exhibition, Yokai Parade: Supernatural Monsters from Japan, invites the public on an exploration of Japan's yokai and its mysterious culture. From traditional picture scrolls and nishiki-e to everyday toys and films, immerse yourself in the fascinating world of yokai and encounter the supernatural imagination of ancient Japan.

Curated by Mr. Yumoto Kōichi, Director Emeritus of the Yumoto Koichi Memorial Japan Yokai Museum, the exhibition unveils the journey of yokai culture from the Edo period to the present day. Witness the transformation of yokai from fearful entities to charming and friendly presences, celebrated in Japan's traditional summer ghost stories.

Through exploring the dissemination and inheritance of yokai culture, from the mysterious Night Parade of One Hundred Demons to the vibrant world of yokai depicted in woodblock prints. Discover the unexpected connection between yokai and traditional Japanese games, emphasising their integration into daily life and the diversity and creativity of the yokai artwork.

Join us as we unravel the timeless allure of yokai culture—a captivating journey transcending generations and borders, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the profound mystery of Japan's supernatural heritage.
