It's Friday, and time for another record with the Egon Kaiser Dance Orchestra, one that packs a tremendous punch. Apparently, 1934 was a very special year for the popular conductor, as his best recordings date from this period. Enjoy!

Another transportation themed show this week, dealing with the likes of Flanders and Swan, Frankie Laine, Judy Garland and cheeky Max Miller.
Also, the piano player who started off gigging where he could, while working at the Westminster Gas and Coke Company and ending up with his own 1955 Cinemascopic short, showing off him and his orchestra, and the hit record, Stage Coach, featured on our Sunday morning ride, this week. Hold very tight please!

And here comes another Egon Kaiser record, this time from 1939, and one whose title might mistakenly suggest the then-common "folk music." But far from it! What we hear here is a fast-paced, parodic foxtrot, in which even the always somewhat staid Heyn Quartet lets loose. This proves: Never judge an Egon Kaiser Record by its title. Among the goodies this week a reunion of the mighty Basie big band and Joe Williams.
We have Jack Payne leading the band that was featured in the first ever BBC broadcast, from 1928 a recording by Carson Robinson who played a major roll in the development of country music, taking on the likes of Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison we have Buddy Knox and a 1957 hit for him, and Danny Kaye serves up some classic cockney cuisine from 1949.

A rarity in the show’s line up, this week, with some jazz accordion from Eric Winstone.
Established in 1920, The Benson Orchestra Of Chicago serve up a hit from 1925. And British vocalist Al Saxon belts out the 1959 theme song for the Peter Sellers film I’m Alright Jack. All these gems and more, with The Hilltoppers providing the Sunday morning romance.
