In a move to build on its international reputation, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) has named Kiran Sanghera as its new deputy secretary-general, succeeding Eric Ng who left the position last year.

Sanghera, who was most recently the deputy-secretary general at the Sydney-based Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA), will rejoin the HKIAC on 20 January.

This will be Sanghera’s third stint at the HKIAC, where she accumulated a decade of experience serving in various roles, including counsel, business development deputy director and special counsel.

In between her days at the HKIAC, Sanghera has also worked for London-headquartered litigation funder, Harbour Litigation Fund, and the ACICA.

Joanne Lau, HKIAC’s secretary-general, expressed confidence in Sanghera’s ability to enhance the centre’s international reputation.

香港国际仲裁中心任命Kiran Sanghera为新任副秘书长，以助力机构拓展国际市场。她将接替去年离任的吴家欣。

Sanghera将于1月20日回归港仲，她此前在总部位于悉尼的澳大利亚国际商事仲裁中心（简称ACICA）担任副秘书长。

这将是Sanghera第三次加入港仲。她曾在该仲裁机构工作十多年，担任过法律顾问、业务发展副总监以及特别顾问。

除港仲和ACICA外，Sanghera还曾在总部位于伦敦的诉讼资助机构Harbour Litigation Fund工作。

港仲秘书长刘煦婷有信心Sanghera能够提升中心的国际声誉。

Quartet guides on Yibin Bank’s HKD1.78bn IPO https://law.asia/yibin-bank-ipo/

Clifford Chance, Global Law Office, King & Wood Mallesons and Commerce & Finance Law Offices have engaged in Yibin City Commercial Bank’s (YBCCB) HKD1.78 billion (USD227 million) IPO in Hong Kong. This is the first mainland bank to debut on the HKEX in the past three years.

Clifford Chance’s Tim Wang, along with Xiang Tianning and Fang Liu, acted as the issuer’s Hong Kong law counsel.

Global Law Office served as YBCCB’s PRC law and data compliance counsel, and its team was led by Liu Jinrong, Wang Kunlin, Liu Chengwei, Zhuang Haojia, Qin Wei and Vincent Wang.

King & Wood Mallesons counselled the underwriters on Hong Kong law, while Commerce & Finance Law Offices advised on PRC law.

In commercial arbitration practice, quite a few partnership agreements contain an arbitration clause.
