On 29th January 2025 at about 18:30 hrs, a 31-year-old Cook whose camp is about fifteen feet from the couple's camp at Baramita, said she saw both of them and the victim appeared to be in good spirits and health at the time. Subsequently, the Cook left her camp and went to Central Baramita and she returned at about 10:30 hrs today, where she saw the suspect (Eon Moore) packing his belongings on a Red Suzuki All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), which did not have a Registration number.

The Cook said she asked the suspect where Janelly was and he responded: "She's sleeping in her hammock".

The Cook said she immediately checked the hammock and observed Janelly lying motionless with visible marks of violence on her face. At that time, the suspect took off on the AVT and made good his escape.

A report was made to Baramita Police Station. The teen's body was escorted to Baramita Cottage Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival by the Medic.

Police are investigating an alleged Break-and-Enter-and-Larceny committed at Andrews Supermarket located at Lot 44-45 Robb and Light Streets, Georgetown, which occurred between 22:00 hrs last night and 07:45 hrs this morning by persons unknown. The suspects reportedly escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Investigations revealed that Andrews Supermarket is a four-storey concrete structure facing south, in an unfenced compound. The first floor consists of a supermarket secured by a double glass door, zinc shutters and padlocks. The second flat is the Money Gram office and Manager's office, while the third and fourth storeys are used for storage and are secured by internal metal doors with locks. There is also a storage bond to the eastern side on the lower flat of the building with a double metal door facing south which is secured by means of padlocks and internal bolts. No security guards are working at the supermarket.

According to the 34-year-old store manager, at about 22:00hrs last night he was the last person to leave the building and he secured it by the means provided and went home.

At about 07:45hrs this morning, he returned to the supermarket and discovered the door to the storage bond located on the lower flat of the building was opened. Upon checking, he discovered that the roof leading to the storage bond was cut open. He then made checks in the building and observed the cash registers in the supermarket on the ground floor were damaged, and an undisclosed sum of cash removed.

He made further checks on the second floor and observed the Money Gram office was ransacked and two metal safes containing an undisclosed amount of cash which were secured in the said office were missing.

Several persons in the area were questioned as investigations continue.

At about 15:57 hrs yesterday (Wednesday), Prison Officer #3809 Jasen Johnson, while on duty at the Mazaruni Prison front gate, conducted a mandatory search on Prison Officer #3817 Walter Benn upon his return from signing a document. Benn presented an Ensure bottle in a black plastic bag, which, upon inspection, was found to contain suspected Cannabis. The matter was reported, and Benn was arrested.
Police responded and took possession of the suspected narcotics. Benn was interviewed in the presence of Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Rodey Denhart during which he admitted to having more narcotics in his living quarters and home. A search of his living quarters led to the discovery of three more Ensure bottles containing suspected cannabis, totalling 272 grams, which were secured as evidence.
At 20:00 hrs last night, an intelligence-led operation led by ASP Nedd and a team of officers proceeded to Bennโ€™s residence. His reputed wife, Tecina Angel Willis (Firewoman), admitted to transferring the narcotics and three cell phones to her neighbour, Melissa Allen, who then passed them to her reputed husband, Rhon Smith, for concealment. Smith later led investigators to a clump of bushes behind his home, where nine Ensure bottles containing suspected cannabis and three cell phones were recovered.
The total narcotics seized amounted to 856 grams. All suspects were arrested for possession of narcotics for trafficking.
