Earlier in the week (Tuesday 17th September, 2024), Corporal Williams and Constable Prince from Regional Division #10, traffic department engaged the public through a Radio program hosted by DJ Dan Hype on 104.3 Boom FM.

On Thursday, 19th September 2024, the Kwakwani Police Youth Group held their youth Activitiy in the station compound between 16:00 hrs to 17:30 hrs.

The following topics were done to encourage working together and bringing awareness:

1. The different types of peer pressure,
2. Ways to say no to peer pressure,
3. Sung dramatic chorus

This engagement saw ten youths and one youth leader.

In recognition of International Clean Up Day the Mackenzie Scout Group of Regional Division # 10, on Saturday 21st September 2024, between 07:00 hrs to 08:30 hrs, participated by cleaning the following areas:

1. Section of Mora Street
2. Pine Street
3. Republic Avenue

The exercises saw nine scouts,that's consisting of cubs, explorers, venturers, and four youth leaders.

On Friday 20th September 2024, ranks of Regional Division #10 conducted visits throughout the mining town of Linden in efforts to foster better relationship between law enforcement and the residents.

During the visit, several Community related issues and safety measures were raised.

The following topics were discussed:

1. Domestic Violence
2. Victim Support
3. Illegal use of drugs and alcohol by youth
4. Child labour and Child abuse
5. Littering
6. Amerindian Heritage Activities
7. Crime prevention tips
8. Installing of CCTV cameras
9. Business owners encouraged to have security guards
10. Flooding in Kwakwani district
11. Maintaining great partnership with Police and the community

In addition, the business community applauded the Police ranks for visiting their communities and listening to their concerns and suggestions in order to maintain better working relationship between police and residents.

The Quartermaster Store of the Guyana Police Force held a church service at the Quartermasters Store on Friday, September 20th, 2024, aimed at strengthening the morale and faith of its ranks.

The gathering was attended by Police Officers, along with Pastor Doolichand, Brother Thompson, and Sister Evans, who provided spiritual guidance and support.

The service began with heartfelt songs of worship led by the Officers, creating an uplifting atmosphere that set the tone for the proceedings. Various members of the congregation participated in scripture readings, emphasizing themes of unity and resilience within the ranks.

Pastor Doolichand delivered a powerful message urging the officers to remain vigilant in their duties and to maintain a steadfast focus on their mission. He highlighted the importance of prayer as a tool for personal strength and community support, reminding the officers that their role in safeguarding the nation is not just a job but a calling that requires dedication and faith.

He further encouraged the officers to lean on one another and to seek strength from their shared experiences, fostering a sense of camaraderie essential for their demanding roles.

7. Recruitment procedure in joining the Guyana Police Force

Earlier today (Thursday 19th September, 2024) at the Guyana Revenue Authority's car park in Linden, Mayor of Region #10, Mr. Sharma Solomon, Deputy Mayor Mr. Dominique Blair, Deputy Commander of Regional Division #10, Mr A. Austin along with other Sub Division Officers, held a meeting with the various stakeholders to discuss the alternative route for (Noitgedacht Road and Washing Pond) for the new Mackenzie/Wismar Bridge Project.

The Mayor expressed his concerns about the flooding in the area, traffic management, and the position of the road in order to facilitate the new route.

Deputy Commander Austin expressed his appreciation for the feedback given by the Mayor and the various stakeholders. He also proposed solutions to resolve the issues and concerns raised.

Looknauth along with Woman Corporal Punch, Community Relations Officer Constable Waithe-Adrian, and other ranks held a community engagement with residents of Lancaster Village Squatting Area, Corentyne Berbice.

The visit is in keeping with the GPF's mandate to maintain public safety and build partnerships through community engagement.

Some of the concerns raised by the residents were:

Sergeant Griffith and Sergeant Langevine met and interacted with students attending the Toyota Automotive Electrical training and mentoring program at Herstelling EBD.

The program, facilitated by Amar Ram, who also serves as the public relations officer for the Providence Police Station Management Committee, is accredited by the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) and runs for 14 weeks. It aims to equip participants with technical and soft skills necessary to diagnose and repair electrical faults in automobiles.

Sergeant Griffith and Sergeant Langevine commended the attendees for taking the course and encouraged them to seize every opportunity, highlighting the role this plays in a changing economy.

The enthusiastic students shared their learning progress and discussed how they plan to contribute to the country with their new skills.

A fire safety lecture and drill was conducted yesterday at Texila American University, Providence, East Bank Demerara by a leading fireman from its Georgetown Divisional Headquarters, Mr. Dayne Paul.

During the exercise, participants were tested on the time they took to evacuate the building, which was 6 minutes. They were also briefed on preventative methods they could use, in the event of a fire.

A demonstration on how to properly use a fire extinguisher was also done. Those present were Sergeant Griffith, the Dean, and faculty heads of the University.

3. Teenage Pregnancy
4. Domestic Violence
5. Child Molestation

The Santa Rose Primary and Secondary Schools held a su***de prevention walk on Tuesday 17th September 2024 within the Mocura Sub-district, Region One led by the Regional Divisional Vice-Chairman Ms. Peters.

The Regional Education Officer Mr. Cornelius, Administrator of Kumaka District Hospital Ms. La Rose, School Welfare Officer Ms. Ingrid, Probation Officer Mr. Singh, Officer-in-Charge of the Sub-Division Inspector Narine, Constable William and Constable Singh, along with two hundred and forty (240) students and twenty-three (23) teachers participated in this walk from Kumaka Waterfront landing to the Kumaka playfield.

Students were given words of encouragement on the importance of life and reaching out to someone for assistance and emotional support when needed.
