What Drives Change?
When we tell ourselves or those close to us, “I’ll change,” what we’re really saying is, “I am seeking personal growth.” Change is growth. Whether we’re navigating broken relationships, self-sabotaging behaviors, stalled careers, declining health, or financial struggles, we make small but impactful steps by living intentionally rather than on autopilot. These steps expand us beyond the habits and conditioned behaviors that have kept us playing small.

It is this shift in thought and behavior that rewrites the blueprint for the change we seek—in our relationships, careers, health, finances, lifestyle, and personal development. The reality is, deep-seated habits and behaviors are ingrained in our subconscious, making change feel daunting due to our evolutionary tendencies toward fear and survival.

By focusing our attention on daily habits that align with our intentions, we unlock our inner power, bringing to the surface what truly matters to us. Lasting change thrives on repetition. We must harness the power of delaying gratification from external distractions and consistently direct our energy toward our goals. In time, the work we put in will result in the lasting transformation we seek.

“It’s not about you.” I can’t tell you how many times this mantra has come up in conversations, movies, and even in my own thoughts over the past year. This summer, my brother and I started a Marvel marathon, which led us to Doctor Strange. Watching the film for the third time, I was struck by the powerful morals that we, as human beings, can embrace to change the course of our lives.

The character, Doctor Stephen Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch), embodies the essence of humanity—a species with infinite potential, yet often limited by our conditioned beliefs about our collective purpose. We live our lives clinging to the illusions of what surrounds us, mistaking them for true power and success, and allowing them to define our worth. These delusional beliefs trap us in a cycle of endless gratification, leaving us yearning and unfulfilled.
