Religions has always been a great inspiration for musicians around the world. What we 've got here is a wide selection of 12 tracks all inspired by Islam. Kenny Clarke, Art Blakey, Sahib Shihab, Gigi Gryce, Idrees Sulieman, Ahmad Jamal, Yusef Lateef and countless more, were early converts to the spiritually charged Ahmadiyya school of Islam. The tracks on this collection follow the story of Islam and jazz from the 1950s to the 1980s and explains how the African American liberation movement had been widely and famously associated with Islam.

Now this is something we have been waiting for a long time and finally had the chance to get a copy thanks to the rerelease of this masterpiece!! Naujawanan Baidar all first recordings from 2017 till 2019 all compiled and filled into this double lp pressing. We are so happy we got a physical version of this obscure Middle Eastern piece of music art and we really enjoying seeing it spinning on the decks. The ultimate ticket for a ride to Afghanistan! ❤️🙏❤️

For our beloved Iranian female fighters here is a stunning female vocal track. Pooneh was an Iranian pop singer, she started singing at the age of 16. After the 1979 Iranian revolution, she was banned from taking part in any artistic activities. "Hamishe tanha" is taken from the "Zendooni (Funk, Psychedelia And Pop From The Iranian Pre-Revolution Generation)" compilation released in Pharaway Sounds, a Spanish reissue label, specialized in Turkish and Iranian music of the 60's and 70's.

Guitarist Sam Shalabi is a longtime fixture on the Montreal free improv and experimental post-rock scenes. He was born in Tripoli, Libya, in 1964 to Egyptian parents, his family emigrated to Canada's Prince Edward Island when he was five. Middle Eastern heritage is a major part of his work mostly from his regular use of the oud. Shalabi Effect began in 1996 as a duo along with Anthony Seck and soon after a decade or more, two more members joined the project. Pink Abyss is their fourth album back from 2004, a mixture of psychedelic rock and free improvisation experiments filled with long Middle Eastern routes.

Rabih Beaini is the real name behind the project Morphosis. Born in Lebanon and moved to Italy in the mid 90s to improve his studio production skills. After many releases under other aliases he finally started his own imprint Morphine Records in 2005, constantly working on providing fine electronic music. Here is a sample of his work from his first ever complete album back in 2011 with the title What Have We Learned.

The queen of Lebanon, Fairuz (Nuhad Rizq Wadīʿ Ḥaddad), one of the greatest ever voices that came out from the Middle Eastern music industry, wife of the famous Assi Rahbani and mother of Ziad and Hali Rahbani, all members of the great Rahbani family. Born in Beirut and started her career as a chorus member at the Lebanese Radio Station. Soon she became one of the most important singers in the Arab world with a huge amount of LPs and singles produced and with hundreds of collaborations started from the late 50's. FARHOT (Farhad Samadzada) is a stand alone artist born in Afghanistan and based in Germany that produces hip hop beats since 2013, the date that he also started to run his own record label KABUL FIRE Records, hosting artists mostly around the European hip hop music. His productions is trully influenced from his origin, sampling documentaries about recent wars, and even features the voice of Ahmad Shah Mahsoud (Yak Sher), a resistance fighter of the 1980s. Sote (Ata Ebtekar) is an Iranian electronic music composer born in Germany based in Tehran. Studied and taught Sound Arts in Northern California, USA. His music has been published by various companies, such as Warp Records, Sub Rosa, Digitalis, Morphine, Sonic Arts Network plus others. Ata 'Sote' Ebtekar believes that music is a cultural habit of sound and anti-sound (silence). Therefore, he generates music without a specific culture, which he believes to be "the other sound.

A wonderful initiative taken by Godspeed You! Black Emperor is what has been happening since yesterday on their bancamp page. Specifically, the guitarist and founding member of the band, Efrim Menuck, offers within the bandcamp a very rare audio document from 1993, entitled "all lights f**ked on the hairy amp drooling", just a few years before the band's first official release, in high resolution mp3 giving all proceeds to the campaign set up by the CJPME - Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East and the United Network for Justice and Peace in Palestine and Israel (UNJPPI) to send medical oxygen to Gaza. The campaign was created in 2020 by these two organizations under the name "Canada, Stand up for Children's Rights".
