Part of the exercise this morning on rescue in wells.

Today we have witnessed an impressive exercise of rescue in wells by the Gambian Fire & Rescue Services (GFRS). After only 4 days of training by BOMBEROS GRAN CANARIA the performance was a total success.

This is part of the broader humanitarian campaign lead by StartUp NGO, aiming at strengthening Emergency response in The Gambia.

Yesterday we had interesting exchanges about the the challenges of Gambian women living in Spain, specially about FGM, and how to improve its prevention. This group of professionals from Mataró, Girona and Barcelona are visiting the country these days for a better understanding of the context.

We are delighted to welcome the team of fire fighters from BOMBEROS GRAN CANARIA that will carry out different trainings to the Gambia Fire and Rescue Services on road traffic accidents, rescue in wells, use of firetrucks among others.

Last week we were delighted to receive a colleague from the Ministry of Inclusion and Social Security of Spain.

Paola Martínez Girón, auditor an expert in Social Security and Social Protection, has been doing 1 week of technical assistance in the Protection Secretariat under the Office of the Vice President - The Gambia

A series of exchanges of knowledge and good practices and dialogues with different officials and stakeholders have taken place with the aim of exploring the pathway to boost social protection and social security in The Gambia.

This is part of the broader program of technical assistances that the Government of Spain is offering to The Gambia in the areas of their interest.
