Earlier today, the Basse Public Health Office received a disturbing report from a concerned citizen, Sheriffo Faye, regarding a group of individuals collecting old mattresses and repurposing them into pillows for sale. This practice poses serious health risks to the public, as old mattresses often harbor dust mites, bacteria, mold, and other harmful pathogens that can cause respiratory illnesses, skin infections, and allergic reactions.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Public Health Office took immediate action to ensure that all the collected mattresses were confiscated and safely disposed of. The materials were promptly destroyed through controlled burning at the designated dumpsite to prevent any further health hazards.
We urge the general public to remain vigilant and report any activities that may threaten public health. The use of unsanitary materials in the production of household items is not only unethical but also poses a significant risk to the well-being of our community. If you come across any such activities, please report them immediately to the Basse Public Health Office or relevant authorities.
Your cooperation is essential in safeguarding the health and safety of our community. Together, we can prevent harmful practices and ensure a healthier environment for everyone.
