I am devastated of being sent off in our match against Senegal! I never intended to receive a red card whilst representing my beloved country of the Gambia, but was unfortunate enough to receive one, which had negatively impacted our game, the points gained and our nation's chances of success in the group stage.
As a result, I want to sincerely apologise to my coach, teammates, scorpion fans and the entire country of the Gambia and Gambians abroad for not being able to finish the game for my beloved country and fans!
From the bottom of my heart, I am sorry 🇬🇲

Jeng Asserts UDP Has Potential But…
NPP stalwart Baboucarr Jeng has asserted that the UDP is a party with potential but that the personalities in the party could not be predicted.
Mr. Jeng told The Voice in an exclusive interview that the Gambia’s largest opposition party has a prospect but the unpredictability of its members and the absence of a structure to optimize the potential always lead to chaos in the party, rat race and lack of cooperation. He added that the durability of every political party rests on the effective and efficient management of its human capital, saying even with fine brains in the party, the UDP could not optimally utilize the opportunity.
According to Jeng, who expressed his desire to run on an NPP ticket in the last mayoral elections, things might work for the UDP if the party has a clear vision and puts The Gambia first.
“Issues are everywhere and it takes maturity to manage internal cases. If the party [UDP] puts the country first and country over party with a clear vision and the right people in the right places, it might work out for them,” he stated.
Jeng contended that UDP is rocked by an internal crisis that the majority of people cannot detect.
“Externally, they look okay whilst they’re facing internal issues,” he explained, adding that he was not taken off-guard by Sabally’s defection.
“I don’t do politics for politics’s sake. I have a different perspective on things. Sabally is a man of knowledge. The way he sees things is different from many people. What he did was the right thing. He made the right move. He is patriotic. Let him serve the nation. If every individual out there does what Sabally did, the country would move to another level,” Mr. Jeng asserted.
He admonished Gambians to unite in hearts and minds and put the prosperity of the country uppermost on their priority.
“It is about a country that is bigger than all of us. Uniformity is not unity. People unite in hearts and minds and Gambians should learn to unite in the same way, forget about cheap politics, and put prosperity in front of us,” he stated.

GCCI Launches 17th Edition of Trade Fair Gambia International Platform
The Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Thursday launched the 17th edition of the Trade Fair Gambia International (TFGI) platform geared towards networking and promoting business.
Speaking during the launching ceremony held at GCCI’s Head Office, the Chief Executive Officer of GCCI, Sarata Konateh, said the high turnout at the launch of the platform was a good sign, especially as regards women.
‘’We appreciate the participation and we pray to achieve our desired results. I hope that sales increase this year and I implore on all the participants to be more vigilant on their marketing,’’ she remarked.
‘’This is beyond four weeks of trade fair but we want long-term, growth and visibility, particularly small businesses,’’ CEO Konateh added.
Mrs. Konateh explained that the fair is not only for GCCI to collect revenue but also to receive feedback in the process.
The Chairman of the Trade Fair Committee, Saul Frazer, said TFGI is the leading business exhibition event in the Gambia, creating a platform for enterprises to network and promote their goods and services.
He stated that it also presents an opportunity for businesses to sell, partner with, and invest in viable SMEs from various sectors.
‘’In our pursuit of making this fair more accessible, we have increased the number of tents to accommodate everyone. This symbolizes the expanse of opportunities where businesses connect and prosper,’’ he emphasized.
‘’Moreover, our dedication to youth and women empowerment knows no bounds. This year’s fair promises an even more remarkable turnout than before with an expected 500 stalls, including entrepreneurs from across the ECOWAS region.TFGI is not merely an event but a convergence of aspirations, innovation, and opportunity. GCCI takes pride in fostering an environment where businesses thrive regardless of size or sector,’’ Chairman Frazer added.

The Campaign Manager of The National People’s Party, (NPP) Mr. Cham has said that his party has rolled out a welcome carpet for every Gambian as he called for unity and politics of decency. Cham was speaking to The Voice Newspaper in an interview.

He explained: “Our doors are open. If you look at it, the NPP’s national executive is composed of people from all political parties. Newcomers will be accommodated.

Politics is not about violence, insults, castigating opponents, and character assassination. Our social fabric should not be torn by politics. Our cordial relations should not be endangered by politics. Nothing should change our relations.

Here is an example, when I was in the UDP, the meeting point for me and my friends was owned by someone in the APRC. We all used to go and do our politics but regrouped whenever we finished doing politics. It was the same owner of our meeting point, who facilitated a meeting between me and the people of Foni when there was a problem there to solve. Today, Foninkas adopted me as an honorary father.

That’s how it should be, we should be able to attend each others naming ceremonies and funerals".

Asked whether The UDP will not pose a threat to NPP in the next general election, Cham replied:

“NPP will never be threatened by the UDP. If you look back at the 2021 election, there was a lot of euphoria in the UDP but with all that, I knew they were not our problem. You know some people are politically unenlightened and if you don’t get a grasp of an issue, you cannot make any headway in it.

You should be able to analyze things, understand them, and be able to make a clear judgment and success. I realized that the majority of them [UDP members] cannot analyze politics. The UDP was good at national mobilization but very poor at grassroots mobilization. They need to strengthen their grassroots mobilization to get to the masses and win hearts and minds.”
