PUBLIC NOTICE: UPDATE ON BIOMETRIC PASSPORT FEATURES

Dated: 16 January 2025

The Gambia Immigration Department wishes to inform the public and relevant stakeholders that the features of the biometric passport of the Gambia have been updated in line with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Doc 9303 Standards.

The updated biometric passport has new appearances and artworks that create an identity embodying national ideas, values, and the rich historical heritage of The Gambia. With its distinctive design, the updated version of the passport shows a sense of uniqueness, taking pride in the identity of The Gambia.

By this missive, the Gambia Immigration Department conveys notice to the public to be cognizant of these changes, while affirming that all previously issued passports that do not exceed their respective validity periods are still genuine. The GID assures the public of its commitment to international standards and best practices in the interest of all.

PRESS RELEASE

SUBJECT: PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT ON NATIONAL ID CARD AND RESIDENCE PERMITS

The Gambia Immigration Department wishes to inform the public that following the full resumption of operations at our document processing centres on December 9th, 2024, all applications approved from March 2024 to date have been printed.

Gambians and residents of the Gambia whose applications were approved and awaiting printing, can now proceed to the respective processing centres where they were enrolled to pick up the printed cards with effect from Monday, 30th December 2024. Applicants are further advised to take along official receipts from the GID in respect of their application to facilitate smooth delivery of cards.

The Gambia Immigration Department thanks the public for the patience and appreciates all the support from the Ministry of Interior and stakeholders that culminated in resolving the situation.

His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, Wednesday arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi ahead of the 61st Independence Day Anniversary of Kenya.

Upon his arrival, President Barrow was welcomed by Prime Cabinet Secretary Honorable Musalia Mudavadi and Cabinet Secretary Honorable Hassan Ali Joho.

He was then invited to sign the Distinguished Visitors’ Book at the State Pavilion, where he reaffirmed his commitment to deepening and strengthening the bilateral relations between The Gambia and Kenya.
