Why Ronaldinho was not called up into the Brazilian National team ahead of 2010 World Cup in South Africa has been explained to calm down nerves.

According to Luiz Mendes Junior, who is a writer and a novelist, he said, Ronaldinho had ups and downs in his career since his pinnacle in 2006.

Firstly, Former player Dunga assumed the Brazilian National Team that year preaching a philosophy of dedication and discipline to his players, with no priviledge, since the major complaint from fans about the bad team performance in Germany was a mix of poor dedication and garanteed spots for WC 2002 players.

Secondly, Ronaldinho and Kaka abstained themselves from participating in America Cup 2007 and lost some points with the coach, who promised to retribute the dedication of those who stayed with him from the beggining when the 2010 WC came.

Nevertheless, Kaká was able to regain his place in the starting roster. Ronaldinho wasn´t. His lack of leadership and dedication in 2008 olympics made Dunga reject him.

Also, His bad performances for Milan until 2009 did not help. Dunga prefered to rely on Julio Baptista as Kaká´s substitute as the team playmaker. Bad choice.

Ronaldinho regained fit in 2009–10 doing a good season for Milan, but, for Dunga, it was too late, so Ronaldinho missed his spot on the 2010 squad.

Years later, now under Scolari, the player would have another shot to play for the National Team in a friendly match against England, and proved to be physically unfit.

For the Truth be told: Ronaldinho has never been the same since 2006. Had flashes of bright, like in a match between Santos and Flamengo for the Brazilian championship of 2011.

Wonderful player with psychologic issues. Could have given a bigger contribution for the National Team, as Adriano and others, whose career declined so soon.

The team touched down at the Kotoka International Airport early hours of today where they were welcomed by top officials from the Ghana Football Association and some media houses.

Coup: Gabon Military Officers Claim Power, Say Election Lacked Credibility.

A group of senior military officers has gone on national television in Gabon saying they have seized power because elections held over the weekend were not credible.

The officers, appearing on Gabon24 in the early hours of Wednesday morning, said they had cancelled the elections, dissolved all state institutions and closed the country’s borders.

They said they represented all security and defence forces of Gabon.

The announcement came shortly after the state election body said President Ali Bongo Ondimba had won a third term in office in Saturday’s disputed elections.

“In the name of the Gabonese people … we have decided to defend the peace by putting an end to the current regime,” the officers said.

The Gabonese Election Centre said Bongo had secured 64.27 percent of the vote compared with 30.77 percent for his main challenger Albert Ondo Ossa, after a process beset by delays.

Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi, reporting from Kenya, said that “there are lots of uncertainties” surrounding the military action.

“There is a lot of tension as well. They [military leaders] are claiming that the government has not been respecting the will of the Gabonese people for so many years and they say that has to change,” said Soi.

On Saturday, the opposition camp said the election was a “fraud orchestrated by Ali Bongo and his supporters” after the internet was cut and a curfew imposed. French media outlets France 24, RFI and TV5 Monde were also banned, accused of “a lack of objectivity and balance … in connection with the current general elections”, the government said.

President Bongo was the candidate for the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG), the party founded by his father, Omar Bongo, who led Gabon from 1967 to 2009. After his death, his son, then the defence minister, took his place as president and has been in power ever since.

“We have no idea where President Bongo is. The military did not say where the president is. Things are moving very fast,”
