SuperSport will use the international friendly match between Brazil and Ghana to pilot the much-anticipated live Twi commentary, ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. This is the first time a Ghanaian language will be used for live commentary on SuperSport.
During the match, DStv viewers can tap the Options button on their remote, use the arrow button to select Language, and swipe through the soundtracks to select the Twi language.

*CONFIRMED: SEASON 7 TO PREMIERE WITH A DOUBLE LAUNCH ON 23RD AND 24TH JULY*
The wait is over! Fans can now relax and get their DStv and GOtv decoders reconnected as the start date of the new season of Big Brother Nigeria, Africa's biggest reality show, has been confirmed.

In a press briefing today, Tuesday 5th July 2022, the Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice, Busola Tejumola, announced that the next BBNaija would commence on 23rd and 24th July, and would run for 72 days. This year's show is christened the 'Ninja Edition'.

According the Busola, the seventh edition of BBNaija would be different. "I've been seeing a lot of tweets and speculations about what the season would be like. I can confidently tell you...you're all wrong," she said. "Big Brother Naija will premiere with a double launch on Saturday, the 23rd of July, and Sunday the 24th July at 7:00pm WAT (6:00pm GMT) on the Africa Magic channels," she confirmed.

Meanwhile, the show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, in an Instagram post, says Biggie is about to turn things up a notch higher. “Yes, we are back, season 7 is finally here, and we can’t wait for you guys to see the amazing stuff that is going on this season. If you think you know Big Brother, this season is ready to turn things up another notch.”

DStv and GOtv customers in Ghana can look forward to 72 days of non-stop entertainment by staying connected. BBNaija will be available on all DStv and GOtv packages on DStv channel 198 and GOtv channel 129.

RAIN FADE: WHAT TO DO WHEN BAD WEATHER OR STORM AFFECTS YOUR DSTV SIGNAL

Anyone who uses satellite TV services knows that heavy rain can cause signal loss. This is due to an event called RAIN FADE and unfortunately, there is very little broadcasters can do about it. Rain fade affects high-frequency signals, including those used by satellite television providers like DStv, and refers to moisture in the atmosphere absorbing the satellite signals, causing them to weaken.

Satellite signals are a radio wave and at high-frequency, radio waves get absorbed by moisture in the air. When a really heavy cloud comes over and drops its load, the raindrops will absorb more signal and you eventually lose tuning on the receiver.

The designers of the satellite dish, coaxial cable, and receiver took into account the fact that it was going to be installed outside where there is the scorching sun, dust, wind and rain too. If you have a bigger dish, then the rain has less effect. This is one reason why commercial satellite dishes are bigger than domestic dishes.

Poorly-executed installations, small dishes, and sun-damaged equipment can also make you more prone to rain fade. It is recommended that you have your installation checked every couple of years to make sure it is in perfect condition.

It is not only local weather that may cause your signal to fail but bad weather from anywhere a broadcaster receives or sends a signal could affect your signal too. Rain fade affects customers in 2 key ways. Firstly, satellite signals become weaker as they pass through raindrops. This a law of physics, that is, regrettably, beyond our control - and which no satellite company in the world has been able to get around.

Secondly, the location of the storm is important. Even though the storm may not be in your area, storms in other locations, that is basically any place where our signals originate and transmit to and from, can still affect your signal.

In the event the rain comes down in the middle of your favourite show, you can continue watching the show on the DStv App, which is available for free download at the google play store or App store.
