The Xperience Concert, a precursor to the Ghana Music Awards, has always been a celebration of the best in Ghanaian music. However, this year's edition has sparked concern among music enthusiasts in the Central Region. Despite their hard work and dedication, artists from the region were overlooked for nominations, and consequently, excluded from performing at the Xperience Concert.
We understand that the concert is traditionally a showcase for nominated artists, but we believe that this should not be the only criteria for selection. Kojo Vypa, Takum Music, Smelling Good Geng - SG2, and No Nation Gang, among others, have made significant contributions to the music industry and have a huge following in the region.
We appeal to the organizers of the TGMA to consider giving these artists a performance slot, not just as a nod to their talent, but also as a gesture of inclusivity and recognition of their efforts. This would go a long way in promoting Ghanaian music and celebrating the diversity of our musical landscape.
Let us celebrate Ghanaian music in all its forms and give our artists the recognition they deserve.
