Baba Sadiq, aspiring Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, has rejected the re-collated results of the 2024 election, officially declared on December 21, 2024. The re-collation, which showed a slight shift in favor of his opponent, Patrick Boamah of the NPP, has sparked serious allegations from Sadiq.

According to Sadiq, the process was compromised, with Hon. Afienyo-Markin accused of influencing the election results. Sadiq claims that when he saw Afienyo-Markin present at the venue, he questioned his presence, saying: "When I saw Afienyo-Markin, I questioned, what is he doing here when you've asked some senior members of our party or what is he doing here when there is nobody here, and when people are not even allowed in here?"

Sadiq went further, stating that Afienyo-Markin "went in to meet senior electoral officers, stood there controlling them, almost pressurizing them, and telling them what to do. Your cameras were there, seeing him all over the place."

The revised results showed a narrow margin in favor of Boamah, with a 0.7% change, which Sadiq believes was influenced by external pressure. He maintains that the original results reflected the true will of the people of Okaikwei Central and that the re-collation process was unfairly manipulated.

During a Thanksgiving service this past Sunday at the Assemblies of God Church, Adabraka Official Town branch, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama shared a profound reflection on the dynamism of human relationships influenced by power.

He recounted a moment from 2012 after his election victory when he visited former President John Agyekum Kufuor. President Mahama noticed the stark contrast in the atmosphere at Kufuor’s residence compared to his time in office. Kufuor remarked: “John, take note of that. Know that all those people coming to you are doing so because of the position you occupy, and one day when you leave that position, your house will be as quiet as mine.”
