The Minority has clearly shown that they are not on the side of democracy - Afenyo-Markin has noted.

The Majority Leader in Parliament, Hon Alexander Afenyo-Markin has noted that the Minority side of the House are not on the side of democracy.

The Leader was briefing the press on Wednesday after the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin refused to approve the verted Ministers of State.

"Indeed, they [the Minority] want government business to come to a halt [through their conduct] because they were no where ready to get us to even engage Mr Speaker, they were ready to pack and get to their various cars and go homes."

"Obviously, it was a political journey they were on...," Hon Afenyo-Markin added.

1. All these big games and events; World Cup, AFCON, Olympics, Championship League and the popular EPL, get some glitches along the way. Some games are either delayed or postponed due to some of these glitches.

2. Imagine a game in Ghana delying for 30 minutes because the away team brought matching socks like the home team's. Imagine Hearts of Oak's team bus moving to Tamale though they have a match in Ho. All these happened in England. They are not as perfect as we see on our screens but the hosts and their people try very much to highlight the positives more than drooling on the negatives.

3. They see the economic values such games and events have on their economy. Not to say the negatives are not discussed, but they highlight the positives more.

4. It is good to highlight the negatives and draw attention of leaders and those in charge to rectify them. However, if these turn out to be some fun having and agenda setting more than wanting correction and improvements, then it gives people the opportunity to speculate and interpret such actions in their own ways.

5. The All African Games in Ghana commenced with a lot of negatives. One wondered if there was nothing positive to talk about. It was more like people were just waiting or looking out for the slightest mistake to make the event look bad.

6. Many countries are participating in the games. South Africa has participated in all the games and won medals except hockey. They pulled out of hockey and all of a sudden the event is a flop.

7. I have seen some beautiful pictures of the events grounds and Ghanaians throwing their support behind the Ghanaian team. The number of people I have seen in the videos and pictures will make you wonder if the plenty negative news we read here were true. Whatever they may be, I am happy to see section of the public focusing on the positive aspects and cheering our team on.

8. Congratulations to the Ghanaian team for the medals won so far. The best in our history, probably. Good job done by the organisers for listening to sound criticisms to improve. A lot of thinking and planning go into this.

Yesterday , Dr. Bawumia joined the Muslim community of Kasoa, located in the Awutu Senya East Municipal of the Central Region, for Tafseer (interpretation of the verses of the Holy Qur'an) and Iftar (the dusk meal which breaks a day's Ramadan fast). These gatherings are significant during the month of Ramadan as they facilitate the coming together of friends and loved ones to engage in spiritual discourse and share in the breaking of the fast.

The presence of the Christian clergy in Kasoa, along with other non-Muslims, participating in both the Tafseer and the Iftar, highlighted the diversity and religious tolerance within the nation. This demonstrates a sense of mutual respect and understanding between Muslims and Christians in the community.

Dr. Bawumia expressed hope that the devotions of the community would be accepted by the Almighty Allah and extended blessings to loved ones and the nation of Ghana.
