A pregnant mother gave birth to her child while trapped under rubble in the Afrin district of Syria's Aleppo governorate after a deadly 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit the country and parts of Turkey on Monday .

The mother, who was originally displaced from Syria's eastern Deir Ezzor region, went into labor during the earthquake, MailOnline reported. She died before rescuers were able to save her, the newspaper said. The baby, however, miraculously survived.

According to a cousin who spoke to Agence France-Presse, the child is the lone survivor in its immediate family. The baby is receiving medical care in Afrin, the news agency said.

AFP reported that the baby was still tied to its mother's umbilical cord when rescuers arrived.

A video shared on social media shows rescuers pulling the newborn from the rubble. It shows a man carrying the baby from the ruins of devastated buildings, stepping over rubble and barbed wire, as a crowd watches on.

Another man can be seen throwing a dusty blanket as part of the rescue effort.

Hatayspor's president has said Christian Atsu is yet to be found following an earthquake in Turkey despite reports claiming he had been.

Hatayspor's president has stated that Christian Atsu is yet to be rescued from the rubble caused by an earthquake in Turkey and Syria, despite earlier reports saying he had been found.

The Guardian later reported that 31-year-old Atsu was in hospital and being treated for injuries to his right foot as well as breathing difficulties. This follows on from a separate, prior report from Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu who claimed that Hatayspor vice-President Mustafa Ozat has said that Atsu and sporting director Taner Savut were still under the rubble, and that the club were trying to reach them.

A new statement from Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lutfu Savas, honorary president of Hatayspor, confirms: "The search and rescue efforts for Atsu are unfortunately continuing."

Tributes have poured in around the football world for Atsu, who has enjoyed a notable career that has seen him play in the Premier League with Chelsea, Everton and Newcastle, as well as in Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands and beyond.

He has also been capped 65 times for Ghana.

A 7.8 magnitude tremor struck southern Turkey and northern Syria early on Monday morning before a subsequent 7.5 magnitude quake. A major rescue operation is underway in the region, with more than 1,000 people dead and many more injured or missing.

Reports in Turkey suggest that Atsu, the 31-year-old former Chelsea and Newcastle winger, is among them. The Ghanaian joined Hatayspor last summer, and the club’s sporting director Taner Savut is also thought to be trapped.

''It is the devil''- Man sets wife ablaze in Ogun State for washing his clothes instead of giving him food

A 46-year-old man identified as Hassan Azeez has been arrested by men of the Ogun state Police Command in Nigeria, for allegedly pouring petrol on his wife and setting her ablaze.

A statement released by SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesperson of the state police command, says the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Ibogun divisional headquarters by the victim's father, who reported on October 22, 2022, that her daughter, Olayinka Hassan was set ablaze by her husband over a minor disagreement, and that the victim, a mother of one, has been rushed to an hospital in Ibadan.

‘’Upon the report, the DPO Ibogun division, CSP Samuel Oladele quickly mobilized his men and moved to the scene. But before getting there, the suspect has escaped. Since then, the police operatives have been on his trail until 22nd of January when he was eventually apprehended.

On interrogation, the suspect who claimed to have ran away to Benin Republic confessed to the commission of the crime but blamed it on the devil.

According to him, he asked the victim to prepare food for him but instead of the victim to prepare his food, she was busy washing clothes. He stated further that he got annoyed because he was hungry and the annoyance made him to pour petrol on her and set her on fire.

When asked whose clothes the woman was washing, he confessed that it was his clothes.'' Oyeyemi said

The suspect has been transferred to the Homicide section of the state Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Presidency spent an amount of GH¢15m on car tyres & batteries between Jan and Sept. 2022

The Presidency spent an amount of GH¢15million on replacement of tyres and batteries of vehicles in its pool between January and September 2022.

This is according to documents on expenditure provided to Parliament by the Presidency.

The Member of Parliament for the North-Tongu Constituency, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has revealed.

In his Opinion, the ependiture Classification and the quantum of monies expended Showed that the government was not taking seriously the call to drastic control expenditure in the face of an economic crisis

20year old woman who got pregnant while on birth control has given birth to a baby boy who entered the world holding the IUD in his hand.

Violet Quick, from Idaho, married her husband John Francis at 19, and they weren't planning on having a child yet, However, just one year into their marriage they discovered they were expecting.

Violet and John welcomed their baby boy Rudy at the end of January 2022.

In a viral video, which has amassed millions of views, the new mom shared footage of their son clasping her contraception device just moments after he was born.

She revealed that even the nurses were in shock as they all rushed to see her IUD baby.

She wrote: "So I had my Skyla IUD for nine months before I got pregnant and the reason that I decided to take a test was because I was feeling nauseous for about two weeks and I would just throw up every once in a while.

"I didn't know what was going on and so I took a test and it was positive right away."

She advised her followers to take a test if they were experiencing any symptoms, even if they were on birth control.

Nollywood actress and producer, Toyin Abraham, has opened up about her life and spiritual gifts.

She made the revelation in a chat with ThisDay.

She said: "I’m extremely spiritual. One of the problems I had back then was that I didn’t listen to myself. I would hear the voice of the Lord, and I would see it in my dreams, but I would still want to follow my flesh.

"But ever since I started following the lead of the Holy Spirit, things have drastically changed for me and I’m extremely happy about it. I’m actually dada – those people that naturally have dreadlocks from birth. Since birth, I have been spiritual.

"My parents told me that I was stillborn so they had to throw me away. Then there was a clergyman from Ibadan who came to the hospital and asked about me and I was brought back to life. I was told that I never cried or did anything until the day of my naming ceremony.

"It was the moment they named me Oluwatoyin that I started crying as a baby.

"Again, when they wanted to shave off my locs they had to tell me it was the Holy Spirit because I didn’t want them to do it."

She further stated that there are voices in her head.

She explained: "I decided to have a small circle because there was too much noise in my head. There is always noise around me, both positive and negative. I am not a careful person. My heart is so free. I am someone you can trust with anything. You can do whatever you want to do in my presence."

Because of her spiritual gifts, Toyin said she attended a Bible college to prepare her for a life as a religious leader. However, everything changed when she was discovered by Nollywood actress Bukky Wright in Ibadan. She starred in her first movie in 2003.
