I'll measure and punish corrupt NPP gov't officials — Mahama

John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a resolute declaration against corruption, asserting his refusal to shield any appointees engaged in corrupt practices should he be elected president in the upcoming December polls.

He pledged that his government would collaborate with relevant authorities and partners to retrieve monies and properties acquired through corrupt means.

According to him, his administration would investigate allegations of corruption and scandals levelled against public officials, their families, and friends, adding that the measures to punish corrupt officials in the NPP government would also apply to his appointees.

He referenced former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah's controversial stashing of over $1 million in her Abelemkpe residence, which was stolen by her domestic staff.

In a live Facebook video, Mahama mentioned that the youth's anger against Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia-led Economic Management Team, which has imposed daily hardships on Ghanaians, is understandable due to the national debt increasing from GH¢120 billion to a staggering GH¢658.6 billion.

He indicated that the Ghanaian youth are angry at the poorly executed banking sector clean-out, which led to the loss of more than 10,000 jobs and incurred a debt of GH¢25 billion.

Earlier, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo rejected claims that he is tolerating corruption in his government.

He stated that his administration has undertaken the boldest initiatives since independence to reform and strengthen the capacity of the nation's institutions to tackle corruption in the public sector.

Nana Addo reiterated his commitment to fighting and eliminating corruption in the country.

Speaking on Monday, 11 September 2023, during the 2023 Ghana Bar Association Conference held at the University of Cape Coast, he said he would continue to pursue this cause despite being labelled a "clearing agent" by some critics.

He stated that he would not compromise due process in the fight against corruption, regardless of the criticism.

The judicial process has become too predictable in Ghana - Sophia Akuffo

Former Chief Justice, Ladyship Justice Sophia Akuffo, has called on politicians to exercise caution in their statements regarding judicial matters.

She emphasized that the judicial process is not political and urged politicians to approach court cases involving their peers with respect for judicial procedures and substantive law rather than personal impressions.

In an exclusive interview with Kasapa News' Akokoraba Nyarko, the retired Supreme Court judge highlighted the importance of basing critiques on legal grounds.

"If something is going on and they (politicians) are attacking it, they should be attacked on procedural or substantive law basis rather than impressions," she stated.

Justice Akuffo noted that the judicial process has become "too predictable" in Ghana and stressed the need for politicians to be more careful in their pronouncements.

Reflecting on her retirement, she mentioned that while she does not pay much attention to current events, she sometimes finds herself privately critiquing public comments on judicial matters.

"Sometimes I may be in the privacy of my room saying you don’t know what you’re talking about, it doesn’t work like that," she remarked.

Her comments come amidst the controversy surrounding the ongoing trial involving Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and businessman Richard Jakpa, emphasizing the relevance of her advice in the current political climate.

Recent floods have exposed govt's lack of prevention plan - Mahama

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress ( NDC ) John Dramani Mahama says the recent heavy downpours in Accra and other parts of the country have exposed the government's lack of flood prevention and management plans.

The former President also lamented that despite the government's alleged huge investment to curtail flooding, the flood situation still persists.

"Considering the huge sums of money allegedly spent by this government on draining the Odaw and other flood prevention interventions, the present situation is distressing.

According to the government, $200 million was spent on the Greater Accra Resilient Integrated Development Programme ( GARID )

"While the impact of that huge amount and its intervention have yet to be felt, parliament was recently recalled to approve another $150 million for the same GARID", the NDC flagbearer stated in a Facebook post.

He continued: "Protecting the lives and properties of our people should be a top priority for a government. The current administration has failed in this regard ".

In the realms of Ghanaian gospel music, the name Kofi Owusu Dua Anto, affectionately known as KODA, resonates deeply as a beacon of talent, passion, and spiritual inspiration. Born on December 15, 1978, in Takoradi, KODA's journey in music began at a tender age, where his love for musical instruments ignited a flame that would illuminate countless lives across the nation.

Early Beginnings and Musical Mastery

At the age of 10, KODA's musical journey took flight when his mother enrolled him in a music class, laying the foundation for his future as a multi-talented musician. His time at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) further honed his skills, where he served as the mass choir director and contributed his musical prowess to various gospel groups, including the renowned "Da Project."

Rise to Prominence

After completing his tertiary education, KODA's talent blossomed further as he co-wrote, mixed, mastered, and produced the acclaimed album, 'Awurade Ei,' which garnered widespread recognition across Ghana. His collaborations with gospel artists such as Nii Okai propelled him to greater heights, solidifying his reputation as a producer of exceptional talent and vision.

A Musical Maestro's Legacy

Throughout his illustrious career, KODA's musical journey was marked by collaboration and innovation. He worked with a myriad of gospel artists, both in Ghana and beyond, leaving an indelible mark on the industry with his soul-stirring compositions and masterful productions. A Timeless Discography

With four vocal and two gospel jazz albums to his credit, KODA's discography stands as a testament to his musical genius and spiritual depth. From the poignant melodies of "Nyame Beye" to the bold declarations of "OXYGEN," his music continues to resonate with audiences, inspiring faith and worship with every note.

A Lasting Legacy

As a music tutor and performer, KODA's impact extended beyond the recording studio, as he imparted his knowledge and passion to aspiring musicians through instructional DVDs and electrifying live performances.
