A Baby Dies As A Result of Dumsor

An incubator baby has been reported killed after lights went out Tuesday night at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Tema General Hospital.

According to reports, one baby was lost due to the ‘dumsor’, which happened for about 4 hours between 8pm Tuesday and midnight Wednesday.

On Tuesday night, a distraught mother at the NICU shared a video showing the unit hit by dumsor.

Her video showed babies lying down in their incubators without oxygen to breathe due to the power outage taking out necessary equipments.

Meanwhile Ghanaians have asked Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to issue a timetable for the light disruption.

But in a response, the Energy Minister, Mathew Opoku Prempeh has refuted the claim that the current power outage is equal to Dumsor which happened during Mahama's era in 2014 to 2016.

JOHN MAHAMA WILL NOT DIE - Kwesi Ahwoi begs for forgiveness

Mr. Kwesi Ahwoi, a former Interior Minister has asked for forgiveness from members of the opposition party NDC for his recent statement which sought to say that, running mate to John Dramani Mahama , Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang would be president in case John Mahama wins 2024 election and passes out.

The comment which did not sit well with some NDC members started asking what motivated a senior member of the party to say that.

But in less than twelve hours, Mr Kwesi Ahwoi has issued a statement asking for forgiveness.

According to him, "I sincerely regret the wrong impression that my comment has created. Indeed, it was not my intention, and never will it be my intention to pray that H.E. John Mahama does not serve his full four-year term when he wins the 2024 general elections".

Meanwhile some members of the party have asked party leadership to call Mr Kwesi Ahwoi to the disciplinary committee.

BACKGROUND
In 2012, the then president, John Evans Atta Mills died while serving as president and less than 8 hours, the wise president, John Mahama was sworn in as president.

Senior member and former minister of Interior, Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, has today advised the running of John Dramani Mahama , Naana Opoku Agyemang to get ready of being president if they won 2024 general elections.

He was referring to the tragic even which happened in 2012 that made John Mahama president.

"Get ready, what happened in 2012 that made John Mahama president can happen this time around" he said.

This statement from Kwesi Ahwoi has angered some members of the opposition party NDC.

I WILL CLOSE DOWN ALL AMERICAN BUSINESSES IN GHANA IF?

The member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has warned America and other Western countries that if they prevented any sponsors of Anti LGBTQI bill he would close down all American businesses.

Speaking on Hot Issue on TV3 today said,
"If any country leads a sanction on the Speaker and the sponsors, I will wage a campaign against all their business interests in the country. Their businesses will be closed down by me"

On February 28, Parliament of Ghana passed Anti LGBTQI bill waiting for the president to assent to the bill.

Daughter of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Madam Samia Nkrumah, has told Nana Addo not to assent to Anti LGBTQI.

This Bill, which was passed in Parliament on February 28, 2024, seeks to criminalize LGBTQ+ activities and prohibit their promotion, advocacy, and funding.

Samia Nkrumah, in an interview with Daily Graphic described the Bill as excessively “harsh and unjust.

According to her, “I pray the President does not sign it, or assent to it. I believe it is a brutal, harsh and unjust law, and we don’t need it"
