Find an identity and hone it, that's the short version of how to crack social media.

You can optimise your content (eg by adding text/visual/audio hooks at the start of your videos/on the first slide of carousels and in your captions).

Quick fixes? No thank you.

Let's say you jump on a dance trend and (whoop!) get 5 million views and 1,000 new followers. What will those followers think of the rest of your content, which isn't dance-related? Oops, you just got yourself 1,000 disinterested followers who are gonna bring down your engagement rate.

And don't forget to engage. Find people who comment a lot on other peoples' posts and comment thoughtfully on theirs and build a community. Without this community you'll struggle to get engagement on your own posts and this can be hugely demoralising.

👉You may not want to hear this but if your branding is rubbish, you’re not going to do well on social media.

👀Someone should be able to look at your post and instantly know it’s by you, or you're immediately failing

👦Branding comes in different forms—if you’re showing your face on screen in a post, fonts are secondary. But if you’re using carousel posts like this one, it’s brilliant if people can tell it’s yours just by looking at the font.

💻I’ve chosen quite a funky lead font, which might not suit your business, but make sure you pick something that stands out and is recognisable as part of your brand. I’ve included some suggestions for font pairings, but you can easily find others using that ChatGPT prompt I’ve added.

🚫Views aren't everything. And nothing demonstrates this better than when we get a post with big views that yields no comments, no new followers and very little engagement.

All that's really happened there is we've caught a rare break with the algorithm and our content has been pushed out to a bunch of people who weren't that into it,

We often get caught up in chasing those big view numbers, but let's be real - what truly matters is engagement, new followers, and ultimately, sales. 💰

Designing posts solely for views might give you a temporary high, but it's like building a house on sand. It's not sustainable.

Focus on creating content that sparks conversations, builds a community, and drives sales. When you prioritise engagement and value, the views will naturally follow. And if they don't, so what? Engagement, community building and sales are more important than views!

Remember, the algorithm rewards interaction, not just eyeballs. So, let's stop chasing vanity metrics and start building a loyal audience. 💪
