In this edition of our School of Arts and Creative Technologies Alumni Focus series, we're excited to feature Arnav Agarwal, a graduate of the MA Directing for Film and Television Production programme. Arnav's journey came full circle with his award-winning film God and Country, a project that went beyond the classroom and into the heart of storytelling.

Filming across a church, a country house, and a forest, Arnav created a visual masterpiece with his dedicated crew of 20. Guided by mentor Tim Leandro, Arnav honed his skills through hands-on experiences, culminating in four intense days of production that solidified his love for filmmaking.

Arnav’s journey has only just begun, and we can't wait to see where his creative vision takes him next! 🎥🌟

🎬🖥️ Learning about the world of post-production with the crew behind Wicked Movie : For Good, 28 Years Later and more!

Last month we were honoured to be joined by Andrew Dearnley from Company 3, one of the largest post-production companies in the world. Having over two decades of experience and working on some of the biggest film and TV shows like Wicked and F1 The Movie, Andrew discussed both Company 3 itself and gave valuable insight into how to start a career in the industry.

A huge thank you to Andrew for this talk, sharing his fascinating experiences in post-production and outstanding advice!

🎭Throwback to Ghosts by Henry Ibsen! 👻

A huge congratulations to the team behind a new production of Henry Ibsen’s legendary Ghosts, performed last month at the Black Box Theatre!

This production brought an innovative interpretation of the undisputed classic, reframing the typically-told tale of tragedy to find a darkly comedic core. The scathing web of lies and deceit remains, whilst inviting a fresh satirical look for audiences to enjoy.

Reevaluating a centuries-old classic is no easy feat but the team absolutely delivered - reviving one of Ibsen’s greatest works whilst keeping its ‘spirit’ intact!

Earlier in the month, Film and Television Production students visited ITV Yorkshire, where they toured the Emmerdale sets and other parts of the studios. It was a great day out, giving students the chance to speak with some of the incredibly helpful ITV staff and to see just how closely the technologies used at ITV align with those on our BSc Film and Television Production programmes!

The trip was organised by Matt Brannan (Head of Film & TV) working closely with ITV Academy's Bethan Wilkin and Allison Piggott who were incredibly helpful in supporting the day - thanks to them!
