Fantastic news! I’ve been accepted on the Digital Skills for Screen programme which is being run by Screen Yorkshire. It’s a Skills Bootcamp for York and North Yorkshire, a part-time programme over 16 weeks, designed to explore and enhance the digital skillset needed to thrive in today’s screen industries.

I am very much hoping that this will lead to me getting involved in actual Virtual Productions as this will bring together all the various strands of experience I have acquired over the years.

Starting my career as an illustrator/animator, I got into computer graphics, combining live action with animation and then moved into international broadcast tv where I was in live studio and creative departments for about 25 years.

Finally there is a medium where all these skills can be brought together under one roof.

The course will be held over three separate locations: Co-Lab in Harrogate, ViridianFX in York and The Production Park in Wakefield, all amazing, stimulating and well-equipped organizations.

We’ll be looking at Virtual Production and Virtual Reality, their capabilities and applications.

As well as 360 video production, I already do a bit of VR production, but this will bring my work to a whole new level, finally getting to use Unreal Engine in a meaningful way, combining it with live motion capture and tracked virtual cameras.

I would be very interested to hear people’s experiences of Virtual Production and any advice for someone who is just starting out down this route.

Hi Everyone!
You may or may not know this, but I am currently working on an exciting new project called 'Sea Glass'. It's a wonderful scfi-thriller-mystery short film filmed in the unique and challenging location of Spurn Lighthouse, which sits out in the middle of the sea at the end of a 3km causeway cut off by tidal floods every day.
I'm working with some amazing people, many of them still students and I'm so excited about seeing an idea that began over 25 years ago being transformed by their youthful energy. I would love it if you could help the production get a bit of social media traction by clicking the link to the film's page below and giving us a Like. We'll be posting some interesting highlights as the film progresses and giving some insights into how a small budget film (with great ambitions) gets made.
Please please help us to hit 250 followers!

THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO BE PART OF SOMETHING EXTRAORDINARY!

VIDAVEO in collaboration with Paula Rodriguez Negron, a talented final year film studies student from York St John University are producing their first short film.

With a 'Stranger Things' vibe, but an entirely original script, we will be filming at the iconic location of Spurn Point Lighthouse.

We'd like you to check out our crowdfunding site on Indiegogo to learn more about this exciting project and while you are there, please consider becoming one of the film's sponsors.

We are making this film to a professional level and want to pay actors and crew a decent amount. Filming at a lighthouse at the end of a 3km causeway that floods daily also presents considerable logistical challenges, so we need to raise £15,000

Please click on the link below to find out more...

Or contact [email protected]

Look forward to hearing from you.

Your chance to be part of something extraordinary, | Check out 'Sea Glass - a short film with ambition' on Indiegogo.

An absolutely fascinating article, detailing the differences between VR and XR, and the scope of possibility that these new technologies are achieving in the world of entertainment!

It's incredible to see how creators are utilising technology to create 360° experiences for audiences to enjoy in new levels of engagement, and also share the experience with real people across the world in a shared digital space.

Being able to experience dance in a format that puts you amongst the dancers themselves rather than being separated by a screen really opens the doorway for groups to create works that involve the audience just as much as the cast. It's exciting to think about the sheer realm of possibilities for how 360° video and experiences like this are pioneering the world of entertainment, and it will only continue to astound audiences as the technology develops!

We made some four-legged friends on a recent shoot!

As part of a recent filming project for Stroud Resourcing, we took set up in their Alternative Workspace. Fantastically they allow their employees to bring their dogs into the office!

Here is Jake, our new Social Media Manager, pictured with Hugo.
We shot photos, video and 360 video content on the day. And, as Jake’s first shoot with the company, he assisted with lighting, set placement and also audio recording.

Jake thoroughly enjoyed his time on the project, and said: “It was incredibly insightful to see exactly what goes on behind the scenes for projects like this. Observing the different techniques and pieces of equipment, and being able to take behind the scenes images for use in my social media posts is absolutely invaluable. I’m looking forward to posting content for VIDAVEO and sharing our exciting projects with you all!”
