Krzysztof Zanussi's The Structure of Crystal(1969) feels as if it could have been made yesterday and is beautiful, thoughtful and deserves more attention. Andrew Dominik's One More Time with Feeling is a potent documentary on loss and
Thomas Hardiman's Medusa Deluxe(2022) which is good with some impressive cinematography in its one shot perspective but doesn't quite stick the landing.

For those who listened to our latest review episode (37.3), you'll have heard Scrumpy mentioning Osgood Perkins' The Blackcoat's Daughter(2017), also known as February while discussing Longlegs. Having now seen it myself, I can report that I agree with Scrumpy's view that it's a better film than Longlegs.

It's actually surprising how much he recycled for Longlegs. As with Longlegs, this is an atmospheric, slow burn though there are moments of intensity which mirror elements of Hitchcock's Psycho for which Perkins' father starred.

Though it is a better film than Longlegs with fewer loose ends, it still lacks the emotional heft to push it into classic territory. Saying that, it's definitely a good horror and worth checking out especially if you've seen and enjoyed Longlegs.
