🪰BOOK COVER & TITLE REVEAL🪰
(Details on being part of the ARC team below ☺️)

Hey guys!

Today is the 11th March, which means I have survived another year and am now the ripe old age of 27. And don’t I feel every last one of those years, and then some. Given this (dreaded) occasion, I thought what better way to celebrate my birthday than with the title and cover reveal of my debut novella!

Introducing; Maggot Brain, which will be releasing sometime soon this year via Night Terror Novels Publishing (more details and a concrete release date to follow, but I’ll keep you all in the loop).

As you can see, some details still need to be worked out, such as the book synopsis. Kind of a key part, I reckon. But that will come before release date – if it doesn’t, we’re in big trouble. I’ll be drip-feeding squirming morsels of details all the way up to release date on my socials, and will also be sharing the first chapter of the book over on the NTN site soon.

Just a reminder that you can sign up for updates to the Night Terror Novels blog using our brand new ✨Mailchimp mailing list✨ If you want the latest news on my writing projects, and any promotions or giveaways I might be hosting (including bonus entries for being part of the NTN family!), before anybody else, then please do subscribe!

If you head on over to the Launch Page on the blog, you can also find all the relevant details to be one of my ARC readers, and a few other fun things too.

I’ll be drawing up a list early, provided anyone is interested 🤣 drop me an email via the address in my bio, or a DM on here/Twitter, if you want to read Maggot Brain prior to release!

Hey there guys!

Today’s post is just a selection of super exciting bookish-related mail I’ve received very recently!

So, if you haven’t already heard, it’s my birthday tomorrow! 🎉🥳 and I’ve got a few exciting things planned for the occasion. I hadn’t been expecting these three bits to turn up just before though, so that’s been a great surprise!

First up, this cute Krampus .vinyl figure and The Twelve Terrors of Christmas by John Updike, which I won in a Christmas giveaway hosted by the awesome 💀

Second up is this lovely book box from which was a giveaway prize from the equally fantastic ☕️ I was offered a choice of book theme here from Iveta, but decided to go random as I want to read more widely this year. I’ve actually heard of this book before, and look at that cover 🤩 swipe on through for the full contents.

And last, but by no means least, is this brilliant postcard and selection of bookmarks/pin badges from the truly excellent 🪄😠🥛 this one wasn’t a prize or anything, just a thoughtful little gift from one of the best people on here ☺️🤍

Please do go follow all three of these great folks!

I’m so happy these arrived in time for my birthday, and as I say, I’ve got a few fun things planned this year! One of those will be the ✨cover/title reveal✨ for my debut spooky novella, which I’ll be uploading here, on the NTN blog, and on my Twitter () at around 6/7pm UK time tomorrow! So keep an eye open for that, and more fun things to come very shortly 🤘🖤

Hey there folks!

Today’s tag post is the challenge. I was originally tagged in this by and more recently by .noctem.86 and . I don’t read much non-fiction really, but here is a selection of a few things from my shelves!

⚠️The Bermuda Triangle by Charles Berlitz - The Bermuda Triangle is something that has always intrigued me, and I love books that explore the many disappearances there.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿The Monsters of Loch Ness by Roy P. Mackal - I guess labelling this non-fiction is questionable in itself 😂 cryptids have always fascinated me and I love both fiction and “non-fiction” books on the subject so, so much. I’ve spent loads of time in Scotland and around Loch Ness, so naturally anything about the supposed monster there appeals to me.

🗡The Diary of Jack the Ripper by Shirley Harrison, Jack the Ripper: The Final Solution by Stephen Knight - True crime and serial killers are topics that have always fascinated me, though I don’t own too many books on the subjects. I do however own a couple of books on Jack the Ripper!

🇺🇸Battle Cry for Freedom, James M. McPherson - American history from about 1800 to 1900 has always been a love of mine. Although the “Old West” period most appeals, I really like learning about the various wars too. This is, for my money, the most comprehensive book on the Civil War.

🎶24 Hour Party People by Tony Wilson, How Not to Run a Nightclub by Peter Hook - I make no secret that I am obsessed with the “Madchester” music scene from the 80s to 90s. The Manchester music scene basically dominated UK music during this period, with incredible bands like The Smiths, Joy Division and later New Order, Happy Mondays and Stone Roses. At the very centre was the Hacienda nightclub and Tony Wilson’s Factory Records, which both these books are about.

🐱Animal by Dorling Kindersley (DK) - I just love animals. All animals. And this is the best book of animals. That’s it 💁🏻‍♂️🤣

🏞Strange Worlds, Amazing Places by Reader’s Digest - like Animal, this is just a super neat encyclopaedia, but this one is focused on geographical wonders. I just love referencing it for inspiration.

Hey folks!

Today’s post is another one I was tagged in, the ✨🙌 🙌✨ challenge 😂 I just love the idea of this, hahaha. I was tagged by ! ☺️🤍

Obligatory selfie is included too, of course 💁🏻‍♂️

1 - This is me all over. It gets to the point where I can’t ask them to explain it anymore and I’m just like “guess I’ll never know 🤷🏻‍♂️”

2 - This mystery keeps me up at night 😟 it’s the kind of real world horror I live for, haha.

3 - Again, this one basically speaks for itself and sums me up 🤣

4 - This image is so bloody stupid but I love it more every time I see it. This is literally me as James Bond 😭😂

5 - 🙌CAPITALISM🙌 😰

6 - Just a trio of tweets from #2020 🔥💯🤙 that I can relate to on a spiritual level.

7 - This is a scarily accurate description. I kind of want this lil’ pony too. They’ve clearly seen some serious sh*t.

8 - I had to turn off Duolingos notifications even when I was actively using it. Now that I’m not... let’s just say I don’t sleep soundly anymore... I keep one eye open just in case that demented bird jumps me in my sleep.

9. Again, painfully accurate 😫🤣 this is one meme I hope to amend in my life pretty soon though, haha.

Haven’t tagged anyone but I’d love to see yours if this piques your interest 😂

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
The Body Will Follow - Rob E. Boley

Good evening folks!

As promised, here’s my second post for today. So this is my , which I’ve been tagged in by quite a few people recently, haha! Thanks so much to , , , and for all tagging me in this, I appreciate it! ☺️🖤 (I hope I got everyone 😅)

I was also tagged in the challenge by , and as you can see from the big old mug of black coffee, this fits that bill too 😂 thank you for the tag as well! 🤍

This post was actually a bit of a challenge for me to do as I’m mainly reading a load of digital books at the minute, but here is a book I’ve read recently, one I’m currently reading, and one I will be reading in the near future!

📖Last: SMOLDER by Michael R. Goodwin,

📖Now: Beyond Dimensional Veils by Kyle J. Durrant,

📖Next: Stained and Starless Places by Jeremy Megargee, (these two looked like a neat little back to back feature, haha)

✨Second : How’s your February reading gone?✨

✨ : This has been a super month of reading for me! Mostly shorter stories, but quite a lot of them nonetheless! I’m not quite so optimistic about March 😂✨

Hey all, and a good morning to ya! It’s going to be a double upload day to make up for a few days of no posts 💁🏻‍♂️😂 this morning’s is just a quick update, and I’ll have another tag post this evening.

So first things first, I now have a mailing list via Mailchimp! If you are interested in getting the latest news on my writing projects before anybody else, as well as notifications on any promotions or giveaways I might be hosting, then please do consider subscribing via the URL or the link in my bio ☺️🤘👻

The main news I wanted to report; in just under two weeks (on the 11th March, to be exact) it’s my birthday, and I thought what better way to celebrate than with a title/cover reveal for my first project! 🎉 so keep an eye out for that, coming very soon! 🪰

The release date itself might be a little way off yet (I’ll confirm that soon), but I wanted to do the cover reveal a bit earlier. For more info please check out the NTN blog, as there’s a post on there detailing what’s been happening recently!

✨Today’s : What is everyone up to this weekend?✨

What’s Been Going On?

Our updated social media handles. What the heck is going on, and what gives with this title? I hear you ask. Well truth be told, I've been a busy bee on a few fronts, mostly with my own writing projects, so updates on here have been a bit few and far between. My bad. That said, behind the scenes quite a lot has changed, and if you have a poke around the site you can see some of these updates for yourself!...

Hey guys! So today’s post challenge is a set of tea themed questions from the ever-excellent , !

🍃Black Tea - A book I always come back to🍃
One thing I have re-read countless times is Cormac McCarthy’s No Country for Old Men. It’s just such a brilliant book. McCarthy sets a scene like nobody else can, his style of writing is truly one of a kind.

🍃Green Tea - A non-fiction surprise🍃
I don’t read a whole lot of non-fiction, to be honest, but I guess the one that really knocked my socks off was Stephen King’s On Writing. It’s as entertaining as it is insightful, just fantastic.

🍃Milk Oolong - An adventurous book🍃
I wasn’t too sure what to pick for this one, haha! So I’ve gone with Koko. It’s adventurous in the sense that it takes place across many different locations and cultures, jumping from parts of Asia to New York City to Vietnam.

🍃Hibiscus - Stayed up all night🍃
I’ve had many a sleepless night spent reading 😅 but the last significant sleep deprivation over a book was when reading Irvine Welsh’s Dead Men’s Trousers. I just had to find out how the series ended 😢

🍃Earl Grey - favourite classic🍃
I’ve picked The Great Gatsby so many times for this question, so instead I’m picking another classic I love - Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman. I love this play a little more each time I read it, it’s a timeless classic.

🍃Herbal Tea - An unpopular book I love🍃
Another I wasn’t 100% on how to answer, as I don’t really know any super unpopular books that I loved. I’ve picked Chuck Palahniuk’s Haunted though, as I know the extremity of some of the stories (particularly Guts) can be super divisive.

🍃Pu’er - set in different culture🍃
I guess the book on my shelves set in a culture quite different from mine is My Sister the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite, being that it is set in Nigeria. It’s a great book, too.

🍃White Tea - Kindest Book🍃
This was a tough one, as I do NOT read many kind books 😅 I guess Matilda by Roald Dahl has kind of a sweet sentiment 🤷🏻‍♂️ best I can do, I’m a miserable, depressing book kind of man 💁🏻‍♂️😝

✨Today’s : How do you take your tea? Do you like flavoured/herbal ones?✨

🚨WARNING: Fairly long update post!🚨

Hey there folks, and a very good afternoon to you all! Today’s post is just a quick update, mainly (though sort of a tag post as well) on a few little things going on with me.

First off, I’ve recently changed my name, and can now be found on both Instagram and Twitter as . I’ve done this to better reflect what my account is actually aiming to be 😅 and because the previous one, JJjoinut99, didn’t actually mean anything or hold any significance.

I wanted to do a post to address this, as I know not everyone catches stories and I had a few message asking about it 😂 I’m hoping to have something to share with you guys soon, and actually live up to this new name 💁🏻‍♂️😅 but more details on all of that will be coming in due time, I’m just trying not to rush anything.

I’ve been a bit silent on my blog site recently as I’ve been working on a few things, so updates have been few and far between, and my Flash Fiction Fridays are on hold for the foreseeable future. I intend to bring them back eventually but right now, I’m just focussing on getting my current project done.

I’ve also been submitting quite a few short stories to various places recently, and even if they don’t make the cut and find a home (these anthologies are hella competitive) I’ll definitely end up sharing them with you guys in some capacity sometime soon ☺️

I’m hoping to get back on top of my reviews too, as I had a little mad rush on review requests recently. I will get around to them just as soon as I am able 😊 I think that’s it for now, but will be back with more updates writing-wise in the near future ✍🏻🤘

Phew! With all that said, on to today’s post! I was tagged a while back in the challenge by , and I think Stephen King’s On Writing fits that bill, being that it is part biography, part writers’ Bible!

✨Just keeping today’s simple: What’s your current read, and are you enjoying it?✨

✨ : I’m reading Duncan Ralston’s WOOM and my god, this book is something else. Grotesque, but fantastic. I’m pretty sure this is going to be a solid five ⭐️ read for me!✨

Good evening folks!

A little while ago I was tagged in the challenge by , and then more recently by ! The aim of this challenge is to pick books with animals, so I’ve chosen a mixture of ones with animals on the cover art and some in the titles themselves! Mainly, it was a lot of birds... 🤔🐥

Naturally, I also had to sneak my little Lola 🐶 in here too 💁🏻‍♂️ some of these can be a little hard to see, so I’ll list the authors, book titles and the animals they feature either on the cover or in the title:

The Wasp Factory, Iain Banks - Wasp 🐝

The Plague Stones, James Brogden - Crow/Raven 🪶

Mink River, Brian Doyle - Crow/Raven, Mink 🪶🦝

The Silence of the Lambs, Thomas Harris - Moth, Sheep 🦋🐑

Fluke, James Herbert - Dog 🐕

Lair, James Herbert - Rat 🐀

Bunnicula, Deborah Howe & James Howe - Rabbit 🐇

Shaun Hutson - Slugs 🐌

The Stand, Stephen King - Crow/Raven 🪶

The Wyrm, Stephen Laws - Owl, Wyrm 🦉🐉

To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee - Mockingbird 🪶

The Magpie Coffin, Wile E. Young - Magpie 🪶

(Some of these emojis are wildly inaccurate, I know. The options are extremely limited okay 💁🏻‍♂️😝)

I’m not tagging anyone, but if you see this and want to take part, I’d love to see what kind of zoo you are keeping on your shelves! ☺️🖤

✨Today’s : What is your absolute all-time favourite animal? Are there any you are totally petrified of?✨

10/02/2021

Good afternoon folks! Been a bit quiet for the past day or two, I’m just writing a bunch this month so I’m a slightly more patchy on here at the moment. For today I have another tagged challenge post!

I was tagged way back in mid-January by .reads, and then more recently by and , to do the - pick out a selection of six books whose covers feature a person’s face (or one of a grotesque creature, I guess 💁🏻‍♂️😂)!

I’ve done one of these tag posts before, but honestly, there are SO many options with horror covers, old and new, that I couldn’t pass over the opportunity to show off some more of these faces sitting on my shelves - I just love doing this challenge so much 🤣 the books I’ve chosen this time around are:

✨Obsession, by Ramsey Campbell✨

✨Erebus, by Shaun Hutson✨

✨The Reddening, by Adam L.G. Nevill✨

✨Shadowfires, by Leigh Nichols✨

✨Haunted, by Chuck Palahniuk✨

✨Burn Our Bodies Down, by Rory Power✨

Today’s : What kind of cover grabs your attention the most? Do you have a preference, or a style you can’t stand?

Good evening folks!

Second post of today, and another one I was tagged in by one of you lovely people ☺️ recently tagged me in the challenge - to show off some of the books I own that feature women on the cover art! So here is a random assortment of books that fit that description from my haunted shelves - mostly spooky books, as you can see 😂

These are also organised alphabetically by author from left to right because that satisfies me and yes I am aware I’m a total loser 💁🏻‍♂️🤣

✨Don’t really have a planned/themed around the post today... so instead, how’s your weekend going? Got any wild plans?✨

Good afternoon all!

A little while ago, tagged me in the tag, so here’s my little one! I thought this challenge sounded super fun, but would be quite tough. I was quite fortunate though, as it turns out I have quite a few books with longer titles! The ones I’ve chosen are as follows:

1️⃣ - Sanctuary by William Faulkner (1 word)
2️⃣ - Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk (2 words)
3️⃣ - The Seal Club by John King, Alan Warner & Irvine Welsh (3 words)
4️⃣ - The Fall of Gondolin by J.R.R. Tolkien (4 words)
5️⃣ - At the Mountains of Madness by H.P. Lovecraft (5 words)
6️⃣ - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson (6 words)
7️⃣ - The Woman In Black: Angel of Death by Martyn Waites (7 words)
8️⃣ - The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix (8 words)

: What kind of book titles do you like? Short and snappy or longer ones? Direct and self-explanatory or vague sentences?

No tags today, but if you see this and fancy taking part, I’d love to see how many you get to! ☺️🖤
