This Holocaust Memorial Day marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest N**i concentration camp complex, which happened 80 years ago today. This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia.

We remember all those who were persecuted for who they were, and stand against prejudice and hatred today.

Join the nation and by placing a candle safely in your window at 8pm this evening.

Happy Irish Coffee Day To You All….🇮🇪☕️🥃

Invented by Joe Sheridan in 1942 at the Shannon Airport in Southwest Ireland

- Fill a warmed glass 2/3 full of freshly brewed coffee, stir in heaping teaspoon of sugar, add 1 ounce of Irish whiskey. Lightly whip or foam some whipping cream, and pour it over the back of a spoon once the coffee had stopped swirling.

It’s a bit early now but we’ll be enjoying one later….

We are looking for TWO Local Charities that we can raise funds for here at The Mitre! 💷💷💷

The big national Charity organisations get lots of support but we are looking for smaller local charities and social enterprises that need support and would really benefit from a partnership with our pub!

We would really like to see benefits of fundraising go into visible initiatives for local good causes.

If you are involved in one of these groups can you get in touch please - also we want our customers to help to make the decision so please nominate any charitable concerns that you know and believe deserve consideration!

We’ll see which local charities get most support over the next two weeks and they will be our chosen support during 2025…

If like us here you’ve been suffering from sniffles and flu since new year there’s good news!

Today is National Hot Toddy Day!

A hot toddy is a warm drink traditionally made with some type of alcohol (usually whiskey, brandy, or rum), honey, lemon water, and sometimes a cinnamon stick. It’s a drink that many people traditionally consume when they’re sick.

Although there is little evidence that this combination of ingredients has any effect on a person’s sore throat or shortens the duration of their cold, it is believed that a hot toddy can thin phlegm and make the person feel a little bit better…

We love them anyway…😂
