Last week we celebrated our collaboration with WCD Young Carers by hosting a Christmas party!

A group of 9 Young Carers joined us for music, party games and karaoke last Friday and everyone had a fantastic time.

We look forward to continuing our hard work with WCD Young carers and welcoming them back in the new year.

George’s top tips! ⭐️

George has created a series of short clips to help you get started with the programme we use at Wrexham Sounds during Music Production sessions.

Here, George explains how to insert a drum track into a brand new project on Logic.

George is with us every Tuesday delivering Music Production lessons. During these sessions you will learn the art of composition, recording and mixing using a range of techniques.

Book your sessions for the new year by visiting wrexhamsounds.org or email [email protected] for more information.

Income from music lessons helps us to fund our other services and support children and their families who need it most.

REMEMBERING CAROLINE RICHARDS

Wrexham Sounds lost one of its founders, volunteer directors, greatest advocates, and supporters when, very sadly, Caroline Richards passed away last week.

Caroline was the quintessential volunteer. She contributed an enormous amount of her time and effort to Wrexham Sounds since its formation in 2015, helping the organisation to navigate its way through the difficulties of the Covid 19 pandemic and its resurgence since then. She went above and beyond in all aspects of her role, dedicated to her colleagues and supportive of the community. No matter the time of day or night, Caroline was always on hand. She was well organised, fiercely determined, and brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role as a Director.

Caroline’s contributions to Wrexham Sounds gained her national recognition. In 2022 she became a recipient of the Points of Light award from the UK Prime Minister’s office and earlier this year she was recognised as one of the volunteers of the year at the High Sheriff of Clwyd Community Awards 2024.

As a person, Caroline was caring and reassuring. She had a dry sense of humour and a can-do attitude. Having gained a Masters degree in Education and a successful career in Further Education, her skills and experience helped shape the services and strategies of Wrexham Sounds.

Caroline leaves behind a big legacy. She will be missed by all of us as a friend, a confidante, and a valued colleague.

Our deepest sympathies are with Caroline’s husband Pete and their family at this time.

Return to Music 🎶

Join us on Monday from 10am - 11am for our over 60s Return to Music group!

We welcome anyone over the age of 60 who has a passion for music.

You don’t need to be able to play an instrument to join in. Come along to chat about and listen to your favourite music with like minded people, or bring your instruments and have a go.

Refreshments and a warm welcome are always provided. There is plenty of parking available and the number 33 bus from Wrexham stops outside the studio.

We welcome a small donation from group members to help us keep the sessions running.

If you’d like more information, or you’d like to come along on Monday, email [email protected] or call 01978 345245.

Last night we held our annual celebration concert at Banana Ben's Play Centre and CafĂŠ!

It was a very special evening with performances from 15 young people encompassing a wide variety of music.

A huge well done to every single person who entertained us last night and thank you to all of the family and friends who came along to support them.

Thank you to all at Banana Ben’s for providing us with the perfect venue and working so hard to ensure everything ran smoothly.

A final thank you goes to Tony Pugh from Pivotal Sound & Lighting for helping us set up our stage area and sound.

The support we get from local businesses means a lot to us - thank you.

We look forward to sharing our photos and videos of the evening over the coming days! ✨

This morning, we had a visit from a group of young people from WeMindTheGap.

During the session, we played musical games, learned about African rhythms and played djembe drums, had a jam and even celebrated a birthday!

We really look forward to working with them again!
