With cases of seasonal illnesses such as flu rising in the community, eligible people in Wolverhampton are being invited to come forward and get vaccinated.

Both the flu and Covid-19 vaccinations provide important protection to those eligible and their families over winter, helping to prevent serious illness and minimise hospitalisations during the busy winter months.

People are eligible for either or both vaccines if they are aged 65 or over, pregnant, aged 6 months to 64 years in clinical risk groups, live in a care home for older adults, or are frontline health and social care worker.

A host of pop-up clinics have been set up across Wolverhampton offering vaccinations for eligible adults, without an appointment. They include:

• Sainsburys, Bentley Bridge, on Thursday 9 January and Thursday 23 January from 11am-6pm.
• Queen Square, Wolverhampton, on Friday 10 January and Friday 24 January from 9am-3pm.
• Sainsburys, Raglan Street, Wolverhampton, on Thursday 16 January and Thursday 30 January from 9am-3pm.

David Guest is one of the people who makes Wolverhampton special - and you’ll meet him during this Tuesday’s Inside Tracks.

He’s been the captain of the prestigious Wolverhampton & Bilston Athletics Club, with involvement as both a coach and an athlete; a teacher at both Secondary and Primary schools across the city; and in retirement he’s become a local history enthusiast, raising the profile of local women such as Dora Penny and Æthelflæd, Lady of the Mercians whose army destroyed the Vikings at the Battoe of Tettenhall.

He also loves his music, which ranges from Vangelis to Rossini - and there’s a bit of classic comedy in there too.

So join David and Tim Beech during Inside Tracks at 6pm this Tuesday on 101.8 WCR FM. The show’s also available locally on DAB or anywhere in the world online at www.wcrfm.com, where it can also be listened to for a fortnight on our Catch Up service.

In this weekend's edition of Taste Wolverhampton, David will be looking at the new Government fund to distribute surplus farm food, the Guardian story of the man who inadvertently paid £55,000 for a pint (not London prices - it was in Manchester), and (believe it or not) comedian Judy Love has invented a new beef pie.
All will be revealed 10am-12noon on 101.8FM and DAB digital radio locally, online and on smart speaker.
