Saturday Synthwave Selection !
Sinclair 808 “The idea behind “Fire and Blood” came out of my love for sci-fi and horror movies, specifically the original 1968 “Night of the Living Dead” , by George A. Romero.
This particular take on the zombie story line is still the one I find the most frightening, not so much because the zombies in it are the most terrifying ever (although all zombies are kinda terrifying) but because it confronts us with our own response to a situation like this one, where humans are seemingly able to regain control, but forced to give up some of their humanity in order to do so, and even find enjoyment out of their destruction.
The two samples used in the track are both from the movie itself, and the vocoded line “They’re coming for you” is a take on a famous line from the movie “They’re coming for you, Barbara”.
Both samples from the movie are TV announcement made by the emergency broadcast system, and describes the situation without ever mentioning the word zombie, using ghouls instead, which I find to be a very interesting way to describe them. The second sample is another announcement by the Emergency Broadcast system and describes how to kill a zombie, essentially urging people to do so. Of course it is a matter of life and death, but that’s precisely what confronts us to our own humanity or robs us from it, when we are faced with the prospect of exterminating. Fire and Blood is not really about zombies in the end.”

Influences:

Similar to Murder bot… But perhaps with a slightly larger tinge of French House mixed with Darkwave.

Definitely a lot of movie soundtracks as well, perhaps more obvious in the slower parts of the track. A lot of electro bass / dubstep influences as well. Carpenter Brut comes to mind, again , as does Kavinsky, Perturbator, Black Tiger S*x Machine, neoslave, Gessaffelstein, Jackson and his computer band.
