Happy New Year to all of you and yours from Wivenhoe SoundLab!

The better half of this year has been all about getting the local music scene going again after a really difficult time, and it's brought us the utmost pleasure to watch you all get back into it, and rehearsing your way back into LIVE gigs.

As a small local business that has had its' challenges, your support has meant everything to us, and has kept us motivated to keep going. We hope you all have a lovely NYE, and that 2022 will be a great musical, happy, and healthy year for everyone :)

One of the bands that has been rehearsing at Wivenhoe SoundLab since the beginning is the amazing Hobo Chang. Part of the pleasure of running a music studio is that you get to hear snippetts of their rehearsals, and then get to watch those bands absolutely kill it live in one of the local venues.

We were at Coda Colchester on the 3rd of December to film some of their songs, so here's their first track of the night 'Mean Woman', filmed by Kaly Temmink, edited by Robert Watts Photographer, hosted by CODA for Musicians Supporting The Homeless C.I.C

You can still book to rehearse this week! Every evening slot this week is still available and plenty of daytime slots left🙂

We are open up until Christmas Eve, and will be closed 25th and 26th of December, open again on the 27th, and closed on the 31st of December and the 1st of January.

I have been taking a LFT every day to be safe with the rise in cases, and would recommend you do the same to keep everyone healthy, safe, and in company at Christmas!

We had our first successful recording session at a couple of weekends ago! 🥳🥳🥳

As some of you know, it's been tricky to soundproof the old unit we're working with, as each attempt provided another problem.

Although the sound levels have mostly still been within legal limits, we want to treat the entire studio to ensure everyone (patrons, neighbours, and surrounding buisnesses) are all content. When you spend time writing an appreciation post and accidentally close the app... 😩🙈
I'll try again!

Last week had a special guest join them for their weekly rehearsal at , Kei Patrick on the saxophone, and they sounded fantastic! Watching the absolute joy of musicians letting it all out in the studio is worth everything to us, I actually shed a little tear that night watching them play so vibrantly, having such great time.

The Emergency Room has been using our studio from the very beginning, bearing with us through all the decor changes and soundproofing, and have been super supportive through it all 🙏🏾.

They were ready to gig at our launch party, but the party was literally rained on 😩 So,watch this space, because these guys have been rehearsing up a storm ready for their Wivenhoe SoundLab Livestream from the studio coming up soon!

However you would like to spend your hour being creative, we're happy we can provide you with the space to de-stress, let go, and create ❤

We've officially been open one month and every night last week and this week are fully booked 🥳🥳🥳 we've got more availability this month, but evening slots are our most popular ones and are going quickly every week, so do book as early as you can to avoid disappointment! 😉 Here's some evenings available in the next couple of weeks, but we are open 9 am - 10.30 pm 7 days a week, so take advantage of those days off when you can and come and play some music 🙂

To the community, thank you all very much for your support, understanding, and patience over the last few weeks while we've got up and running. Just a note on soundproofing: we have done lots of tests and listened to feedback from neighbours, and will be adding more soundproofing to the unit THIS WEEKEND, to be completed by Monday. Thanks to everyone who has advised on the next steps to take and given us constructive feedback, this really helps us ensure the space is enjoyable for everyone in the community. We hope you can bear with us until Monday, but if anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask and email us at [email protected] .
