Diastasis is a common phenomenon that occurs in the later part of pregnancy. We often talk about it the postpartum jounrey but it should be dicussed in pregnancy too as it is important to protect the midline as you load and move around to prevent excessive stretching through the area.

Head to XENA to read the full blog and also to get access to videos showing some great tips to strengthen your abdominals safely.

Amazing feedback from one of our first XENA Warriors Abbey had a tricky first birth and wanted to make sure the recovery of her second birth was different.

If you have a keen eye you will see she is the mum who trains with me in my postpartum programme. She got not further input from me than the videos we fimed and when she had mastered them we filmed the next.

Moving through the rehab programme in real time with real results.

What a legend she is :)

Stress is a hormone disruptor

The brain fog, the anxiety, the tears the rage

Not so happy perimenopausal symptoms but thank goodness we are talking about it more and women are finally getting the support they need.

I would say my hormones have been rather detrimental to my life these last 3 years. At times I have felt completely broken, incapable, scared and dare I say it suicidal.

When you get to the point that you want to shut down the business you have spent three years building it’s worth considering there might be a problem.

Thankfully I am surrounded with a supportive family and amazing clinicans who advised and supported me through.

HRT has been a game changer for me.
But equally making changes to my lifestyle have been hugely impactful.

Some of the things (that are free) that I have found to help :

⚡️7m of not drinking helped me get some clarity and definitely settled my hormones. (I am back on the source but much more moderately)
⚡️Regular exercise thanks to my new morning regime - getting it in early and being consistent
⚡️Mindful moments with art, meditation and journaling
⚡️Eating to support my hormones
⚡️Cyclical living- having an awareness and supporting my needs

If you are interested in how you can support your hormonal shifts with cyclical living

DM me the word: BIOHACK

for a copy of our booklet that the wonder and I developed for our talk at

Thanks to all the wonderful people who have supported my journey. Bit to mention my business coach and long suffering friends.

Perhaps they can support your journey too:

Meet Aimee from Gather and GlowOne of of very first ambassadors and actully the person who read my warrior card at an event and helped my come to the name of my business XENA.

Gather & Glow is a sacred sanctuary. Whether you are preparing for motherhood, curious about childbirth, in the early days of mothering, or seeking a kindred circle of women, Aimee is here to hold space for you to share guidance and support so you can regain your glow.

Aimee’s healing pathway weaves holistic practices throughout the many cycles of being a woman; mirroring those of Mother Nature. Using practical tools, ritual, spiritual awareness, yoga, breath-work, folk herbalism and more, she honours the ebb and flow of the cosmic tides and seasonal shifts to create offerings that bring about positive change, love and a sense of belonging.

This is a space to connect back to the essence of you. To reconnect with your inner wisdom. A place to seek soul guidance, remember ritualistic practices and share in the collective of others.

Does your pelvic floor work with your core? This connection is so commonly lost after pregnancy. Refinding this connection is one of the foundations of rebuilding strength.

You can check this yourself with this simple test.
Does one side feel more active than the other?
Is one side more sluggish?

Tune into your body and take note of how your muscles are activating and working together.

As of last week you can now apply for a baby loss certificate to mark the loss of your baby before 24 weeks. I lost my first and third baby. But I was so lucky to have and keep two and four!

Sadly this experience impacts so many of us. It is often not dicussed. No matter what stage of the pregnancy it happens, it is devastating.

I recently commented on a mum friends lovely angel wing necklace. She explained it was a momento of her second son.
We then sat and talked about her loss, his name and his memory.
She said so many people shy away when she tells them this story but its nice to talk about him and remember.

It is wonderful to know that these lost souls can now be recognised offically.

Number one was called Blueberry...
I didnt know about three until I saw them... and didn't give them a name.

Tell me your story? Tell me their name?

⚡️Birth partners listen up and save this for later⚡️Want to look after your birthing mama in labour..

Our nurse and nutitional therapist Katy Bradbury suggests a good electrolyte mixture for labour and childbirth should aim to maintain hydration, energy levels, and balance of essential minerals.

Here's a simple and effective recipe for an electrolyte drink to offer your partner as they heroically bring your babe into the world.

Ingredients:

Water: 1 liter (preferably filtered or mineral water).
Sea salt or Himalayan salt: 1/4 teaspoon (provides sodium and trace minerals).
Coconut water: 1 cup (contains natural electrolytes like potassium).
Honey or maple syrup: 1-2 tablespoons (for glucose and energy - higher than usual as for labour)
Lemon juice: 1-2 tablespoons (for flavor and a boost of vitamin C).

Anything but a sit up. I am just mucking about here, but these are all tummy exercises...But to do these gross exercises its going to be helpful to ensure you have done the building blocks or rehab after birth.
If you are looking to build some abdominal strength after the birth of your baby, then head to the XENA app for a step-by-step guide to returning to strength.

The first phase of the rehab programme is free and teaches you how to breath, activate and then slowly rebuild your strength in the correct order.

Then complete the 15-minute programmes and progress right back to weight training. All can be found on the app on the Foundations To Fit - Postnatal
