Did you have the thunder and lightning earlier on today? We did!
Unfortunately, Radio Wimborne's FM transmitter has been affected and we are not currently broadcasting on FM. For the technical whizzkids out there, we believe a sprocket-flange was shorted against a 13-amp flow conductor, resulting in an outage of wattage near Swanage. Or something like that.

The GOOD NEWS is that we are still broadcasting online so, for the time-being, you can carry on listening to Radio Wimborne in one of these ways:

Today -- January 24th -- is the most famous anniversary of them all. It is the day when, in 1848, the California Gold Rush officially started. American James W. Marshall found a nugget of gold at Sutter's Mill near Sacramento. Ironically, today is also the anniversary of the day, in 1983, when one Gertrude Purdue also found Gold -- but this time in Wimborne's High Street. Not quite as valuable, this Gold was the newly-released single by Spandau Ballet, and she'd been on her hands and knees rooting around in Square Records!
To celebrate, The Graham Clarke Show is on Radio Wimborne today, starting at 5pm.

Today -- January 17th -- is the most famous anniversary of them all. It is the day when, in 1912, British polar explorer Captain Robert Falcon Scott reached the South Pole, one month after the Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen. Ironically, this is also the day when Wimborne resident Kilgally Maidment finally knew that he would NOT be able to reach the South Pole. He left Southampton six weeks earlier, and got as far as Ventnor on the Isle of Wight before turning back -- because, according to his expedition logs, "it had become quite chilly". To celebrate, The Graham Clarke Show is on Radio Wimborne today, starting at 5pm.
