These insects are called woodlice. They are usually found under bricks or damp objects. You might have found them unpleasant and wondered about their role in nature.
Well, let me explain: woodlice, also known as pill bugs or roly-polies, belong to the group of isopod crustaceans. Their role is essential for the environment, as they remove dangerous heavy metals like mercury, cadmium, and lead from the soil. Thanks to them, the ground and groundwater are purified, showcasing the brilliance of nature. So, don’t kill them or use pesticides on them!
