With the announcement of further delays in opening the country up, please before you turn around and say its fine everything is virtually open anyways. Although you can still go to the pub and get a drink or go for a meal this is still something that massively effects my, and many others work. In no way do I feel that being able to party again is more important than peoples lives, it is not.

But it is now over 450 days since I was last able to work. I've djed since I was 12 and 25 years later this is the longest period of time I've gone without some sort of gig.

For me Dave Mac Parties was more than just a job on the side. As a stay at home Dad that can feel like a really lonely thing to do. I am blessed with a lovely wife and two amazing children, but you become defined by your children, and over time lose your own identity. For me starting a mobile disco was about taking something I loved doing and making it a business. And along the way it was great to have something in my life that defined me other than being just a stay at home Dad.

Since driving to Birmingham and buying some ropey speakers and a couple of lights that were older than me for £300 I've devoted countless hours of my life, and money to creating a business I'm genuinely proud of and I hope has given a great experience to those I have worked for. Back last March that was taken away and it is honestly difficult to come to terms with that mentally.

I'm never going to be a millionaire doing this, but what is more important to me is the sense of purpose it gives me. The work during the week preparing music, quoting for work, speaking to clients about their parties is something I enjoyed. And even better was the weekends getting out and being part of the happiest moments in peoples lives. Weddings, birthdays, wedding anniversaries, divorce parties, communions, I've been lucky enough to be part of all of them and there is honestly no better feeling that to be in the middle of a group of people who are enjoying being together. Now the only phone calls and emails I get to make this week is refunding deposits and talking to more disappointed people wondering if they'll get to rearrange their party while I wonder how long until I get to work again.

Through out this pandemic I cannot thank every single person who has passed my name or details onto a friend, or has tagged me in a Facebook post asking for a DJ enough. All the support means so much to me.

And please just keep in mind that this delay, which maybe right for the greater good for the country and isn't so bad as we can enjoy this wonderful weather in the garden with friends and family, its still another bitter blow to come to terms with for some.

Lets hope the end really is in site and I cannot wait to see you all on a dancefloor very VERY soon!
