Innnnnnnn the studio yesterday with a good friend from many years ago, James Devine !
Tape transfer from a live session he did with his band in '79 at Radio Blackburn, as it was then.
Recording and interview from Gerald Jackson, (who also did our sessions there when we were reight popular with our band Civvy Street.🙂)
James's music was mostly from the 1700's, the band were a five piece called Monteverdi Brass, consisting of two trumpets, French Horn, trombone & Tuba....brilliant playing, with arrangements done over 300 years ago!

We bought this old girl 37 years ago, when everything was on tape.
A good clean up, ready for a tape transfer on Thursday recorded by Gerald Jackson at BBC radio Blackburn in the '70's.
This machine wasn't a top end recorder, costing about £1500 back in the day, as I recall.
However, heads up to Fostex for build quality, at a price that us starters in the studio game could afford, enabling new artists who didn't have big record company budgets to get their songs heard.
Happy days.🙂

I always have to write off the first hour of studio time, as, when these buggers get started on stories of past band exploits, it's a wonder they're still alive to tell the tales....🤣

We needed the sound of footsteps, but the YouTube sound bites weren't very convincing.
So we made our own..

Innnnnnnn the studio yesterday, I'm doing pedal steel for The Beautiful Failures,, a song called "Dirty Hands", for the album to be released soon.
The lyrics from Warren are wonderful.
Folks, when you hear it, you can't wait to hear the next vocal verse.
A piano based song, with just the best piano arrangement from Lee, and class slide Dobro from Rick.
I'll play little on this song, don't want to walk over what's there already.....

Good afternoon folks! Fine progress this week on the studio build, we stripped all the desk channels out yesterday from the desks' storage container, moved 'em all up to the new place in that flippin' storm, got the JBL's in position, and played some Steely Dan through them today. The room sounds great at first listening, and it's nowhere near finished yet acoustically. Well chuffed are we. And yes, when you see the lil video, I do occasionally use Glade fresh & vac on the carpets! .....because you're worth it.....###
