DJs - Do NOT use the 'camelot' wheel for your key mixing!!!! It puts the wrong scale at 12 o'clock. The correct scale at 12 oclock should be C (Am) as shown on the circle of fifths (or fourths anticlockwise). If you use Denon players its easy to change from camelot to actual key, and stick with that.

Also be very careful with 'mixedinkey' it often comes up with the wrong scale..... any musician with near perfect pitch can easily find the correct scale on a piano.

if you use camelot it gives you the wrong impression of the actual key, and one of the reasons most DJs cut the bass when mixing in the next tune (very bad habit) - instead you need to listen to the interval (eg second, perfect fourth, tritone etc) and work with it musically. (Very easy to do when mixing vinyl!)

Putting the term 'DJ' onto a product does not make you a DJ using it. Notice how the problems really began to take hold when one brand name started slapping 'dj' over all their digital products..... Yep thats when 'pioneer' became 'pioneer dj' - Just because it has 'DJ written all over the product does not mean to say you are a DJ using that product. Another way to fool the masses!

You dont see the word 'guitarist' written all over a Fender, neither do you see 'DJ' written all over a Technics deck. That is because they are already instrumental by nature.

Lets protect the title DJ from further misuse.... join DJ - A protected title for Vinyl Disc Jockeys and we can get a campaign going.
