The Nationwide Federation of Plant Operators & Equipment has been established to serve and support its members who typically work within the Construction, Rail and Haulage industries of Great Britain and Ireland. The Federation is committed to engaging in communication with Government, Trade Bodies, Manufacturers and Contractors to ensure our members welfare, working conditions and pay are fully recognised and agreed nationally. A prime focus of the federation is to be the ‘Voice of Operators’ helping with their welfare and ensuring their concerns are heard by their employers. The NFPEO will work on their members behalf to improve the working life of ‘Operators’ and to benchmark the highest industry standards which all members and contractors should aspire to. The Federation will also look to encourage school and college leavers to train as ‘Operators’ by looking to introduce academies around the country where they will gain extensive training and mentoring by qualified instructors and existing members. It is important that a continuous chain of well trained and educated operators are available to meet the future needs of a modern economy and infrastructure. The Federation will look to provide its members with unrivalled information on matters ranging from legislation, health and safety contractor details to legal and technical advice. It will also engage with manufacturers and contractors to establish controlled channels of communication between themselves and members. The NFPEO has also negotiated a range of membership advantages from discounts on personal insurance to work wear and across a number of manufacturer’s stores. Members of the Federation can more than recoup their annual subscription by use of one or more of these member benefits. The Federation will also look to rehabilitate members that have experienced misfortune either from injury or though an accident or who may have just fallen on hard times by lending total support, whether through therapy, counselling, education, training etc, in their journey to get back to work. The day-to-day running of the Federation is in the hands of its Chief Executive and the team at the Federation’s London headquarters. However the country will be split into regions and the membership will have the opportunity to elect a Chairman for each area to represent their views. Membership comprises of anyone operating or working on Plant and Equipment whilst working within the construction rail and haulage industries. NFPEO members are fully qualified, which means you can be sure you are dealing with a professional operator who adheres to the highest standards in the industry.
