There's a popular quote referred to when producing a proposal for a client. It goes like this:
"There are three options...
โ
Fast
โ
Good
โ
Cheap
...and you can choose two of them."
This applies if you're producing something yourself; especially if you don't have experience in your endeavour.
๐ฅ You can do it fast AND cheap - but you are unlikely to make it sound good.
๐ฅ You can buy expensive gear, and do it fast - but you are still unlikely to make it sound good (at least to begin with).
AI is a new tool that has come into the mix, but I don't think it changes much really.
Obviously, I recommend getting someone involved who knows their stuff.
It won't be the cheapest option, but if you care at all about how people rate the quality of your service - it doesn't pay to scrimp when you're making something that exposes that quality to your customers.
And it doesn't just apply to audio production. The same applies to training, coaching, skills development - anything where you are serious about quality.
You choose. But you can only have two ๐

Why have I got 18 different microphones?
(And do they have names?)
When we make digital content for our clients, (videos for training programs, media for their content etc.) we take great care in ensuring the quality is optimised to suit the project.
As for capturing audio, the circumstances will dictate how we do it.
To get the optimum quality, you need to have a choice of microphones to select from:
โ
Podcast conversations? Cardioid dynamic mics usually work best
โ
Voiceover in a dedicated sound booth? Then it's a condenser mic
โ
Dialogue while moving around? A lav mic or boom mic will work well
And that's just 4 types
Knowing when to use what, and how to record all of that in the best quality, is why we don't offer our services on Fivver, or do things free of charge for 'exposure'.
Some people are quite happy to put content out with trashy audio. Some even allow clients or others to come on their podcast or video - and still have trashy audio. ๐ซฃ
We have more respect.
Yes, it does cost a bit more. But your media is out there for all to see (and hear). And I feel that your reputation matters more - than getting away with crappy sound to save a few quid.
So yeah, that's why I have 18 microphones.
But NO - I haven't given them names. I'm not a weirdo ๐คฃ
