This charity supports parents who have lost babies.

Congratulations to the Sands team along with our dear friends Nat and Ash who supported and arranged the ball last night .

It was a pleasure to support this charity.

All this and he still thinks he has a chance with the new vicar. Full of laughs throughout this is a classic comedy that is not to be missed.

Old media is constantly replaced by new technologies, and the DVD was a big changes for video content after the humble video tape. But what has replaced the DVD? Digital video is the current format that most people prefer although most of this is now streamed or content downloaded. You can store your digital video on a USB stick or hard drive but more and more people still yearn for something tangible. So does DVD still have a future? With the comeback of vinyl records and talk of even the audio tape making another appearance, we think the DVD still has it's place for your special video memories.

VHS video tape degradation

Your old video tapes have a limited lifespan of 10 to 25 years on average, and that depends on how you stored and looked after them. There are many issues that could result in losing the video footage on your precious tapes, and some even started from manufacture with cheaper brands losing their magnetic coating after a very short time. This coating can also be affected over time with multiple playing and re-recording over the same tape. Other problems could be where and how the tapes have been stored. If placed too close to devices that contain magnets like microwaves, fans, old speakers or computers etc, then these can create various levels of deterioration. Moisture also poses a great risk to video tapes. This can destroy the binder layer in the tape that stores all the information. Most video tape came in basic cardboard sleeves and if left to the elements of a loft or garage they could be subject to moisture and suffer. Mold is the most serious of problems for tapes and this can destroy tapes that are not kept in a temperature controlled environment.

This may all seem like doom and gloom, however we often convert old VHS tapes form the 80’s that are still in great condition for their age. If you plan to keep your tapes for longer periods then keep them in a sealed container and in a temperature controlled environment and you will have a better chance of preserving those precious memories in years to come.
