One of the North West’s favourite presenters, Rick Houghton has announced he is joining In Demand Radio to host 2 new shows. The station launched last year for Liverpool and the North West, created by the team behind Reminisce Festival, co-founded by DJs Lee Butler and Steve Cocky.
Liverpool born Rick has been broadcasting to the North West for over 30 years, on Radio City, Rock FM and Real Radio and most recently across the whole of the UK on Greatest Hits Radio. Rick will be taking over 2 weekend shows; Rick Houghton’s Saturday Live at 10am, and In Demand Decades, Sunday mornings from 6am, playing 80’s feel good pop. Rick will also be working with the In Demand team to help develop new concepts for the station
On joining In Demand Rick said “In Demand is an amazing radio station, the following the station has built up in such a short time has been incredible. I believe listeners want and need local radio more than ever. There is no better place for me to be, presenting radio shows across the North West, talking to the audience I love, in my own back yard – I can’t wait to get started”.

The moment the In Demand Radio & Faster Car Finance winner of “Suggest a Star to Win a Car” found out she had won 🥰
CONGRATULATIONS HAYLEY 🚗🎁✨🎅🏻❤️
“Suggest a Star to Win a Car” was launched in December; giving listeners the opportunity to nominate a local hero who has gone above and beyond, showing true kindness and strength in challenging times.
Rachael Sinclair contacted In Demand Radio to nominate her sister Hayley, who lost her 18-year-old daughter, Holly, in March this year after suffering from health complications since she was just eight weeks old.
Rachael told the station of Hayley’s tragic story and how, due to the COVID pandemic, her family were unable to have everybody attend the funeral and even struggled to find a coffin for Holly.
Given just a plain white coffin, Hayley decorated the coffin in pink herself to honour Holly and give her the sendoff she deserved.
Since the passing of Holly, Hayley has made her best efforts to continue honouring Holly by raising money during the pandemic, for Claire House, a local charity who cares for children with terminal illnesses, including a 19-mile run in memory of Holly’s 19th Birthday.
The year got even worse for Hayley and her family, with her eldest son losing his job in hospitality and their car being taken away shortly after Holly’s death.
In Demand Radio surprised Hayley live on the breakfast show at 8am this morning and delivered it to her on the radio.
