KCDC has returned, and this time we dined at ! 🍽️

🌿 The ambiance is sleek and classy, perfect for a night out. The food was undeniably delicious, but we found ourselves questioning the portion sizes—definitely on the smaller side for the price.

Most of us enjoyed our dishes, with the pasta receiving rave reviews for its rich flavours, but some of us were left wanting more than just a single piece of beef or a tiny bowl of gnocchi. While the taste was fantastic, we felt the value didn’t quite match up to the hefty prices.

The staff were friendly and somewhat attentive. If you’re looking for a chic atmosphere and high-quality food, Pulia might be worth a visit—just be prepared for those tiny plates!

THANK YOU… to every single one of you at that stopped by our booth, listened with interest to what Hoomanz is about, played our game’s demo, gave us valuable feedback, had a laugh with us or just simply came to have a look and vibe 😎

As Hoomanz is our first game with our own original IP, and having high expectations for it internally, we obviously went to Gamescom with a touch of anxiety, unsure if you’ll hate our game. But that couldn’t have been further from the truth. The feedback from all of you was overwhelmingly positive! Especially regarding the art style, concept, story… and Shoo getting hugged 🫂

We also heard your feedback loud and clear. We’ve noted areas for improvement, such as enhancing our tutorial, as well as adding more variety and challenges to gameplay 💪

You gave us a huge dose of confidence, that will fuel our determination to make the game much better, so you are proud of us when Hoomanz releases in 2025! 🙏

Meet Henry, our QA Tester, a self-proclaimed Lord of VR at Koffeecup! Oftentimes he likes talking to all the developers, helping them work out their bugs, as well as finding them – he is the bug exterminator.

He’s particularly proud of his contribution to a game, where he worked with friends to create something funny and special – Go hit some mallers with your purse in his game “Miffed”!

If he had teleportation superpowers, he’d travel to other countries at will. His usual teleporting sequence would be: Germany for a nice cold lager, Japan for ramen, and eat it in South America hoping for IRL goblin sightings (Not sure if he just wants to see one, or is secretly planning to domesticate a few).

Henry’s been playing games ever since he realised his controller was unplugged, at the age of 3 – Nothing writes a better gamer arc than getting to prove yourself to your big brother with a plugged in controller. Nowadays, Henry might play some fighter games with you, if you spot him at an arcade bar.

Meet Marcin, our coding maestro who sees himself as the glue keeping us all grounded. He used to be a graphic designer and 3D designer working for clients such as Masterfoods, L’Oreal and Universal Music. Later on, he switched to photography where over his 20 years he won many awards and publications including the likes of Vogue Italia.

Almost each year you can catch him during Pixel Heaven Festival in Poland. When he’s not submerged in the Unreal Engine or mastering assembler programming, Marcin is a family man, cherishing moments with his son, wife, and two quirky cats, Messi and Lajka.

Marcin’s gaming journey began with an Atari 800XL in the ‘80s, sparking a love for both classic and modern games. But lately if he had to pick between a game and a guitar, he would choose to rock hard on his down-tuned guitars while missing his double bass. With a love of free jazz music, he still hasn’t forgotten the 90s metal music he grew up listening to.

If a zombie apocalypse ever happens, he’ll probably be the ranged DPS in the party as Marcin loves archery.

KCDC, our internal Koffeecup Dinner Club where we try out a restaurant together every month after work, hit last month, and wow, what a feast!

🌿Picture a jungle of green plants and a buzzing bar, with food that’s as lively as the atmosphere and the staff totally on-point.

The Piri-Piri Chicken? 🍗 Juicy with a kick that’ll make your taste buds dance. The cauliflower—yes, cauliflower—was shockingly delicious, and the chorizo was an absolute banger. Sharing plates were on the smaller side, but hey, who’s counting when dessert is to die for?

Bonus point: A lot of great gluten-free options!

Can’t wait to see what’s next on our foodie escapade! Which places in London would you recommend we try? 🤔

Meet Saif, our talented 3D Animator at .studio! As an animator, Saif’s mission is to breathe movement into characters, objects, and vehicles, adding that extra spark of interest to everything he touches.

Drawing inspiration from the real world, Saif pays close attention to how things move—from the suspension of a car, to how people walk as their clothes and bags overlap, to the flutter of leaves in the wind.

A morning person at heart, Saif values the power of short breaks throughout the day. Whether it’s petting his diva queen cat, Chilli (apparently she meows with a scouse accent), or stepping outside for a breath of fresh air, these moments of relaxation help fuel his creativity and drive.

Interstellar makes Saif’s heart stop, by capturing his love for sci-fi with its captivating storyline and stunning visuals. And when it comes to gaming, DOOM 2 reigns supreme, evoking childhood memories despite giving him a few nightmares along the way. But as Saif likes to say: “Life is too short to worry about the small things, so go out and enjoy the world!”

Meet Benny, our Lead 3D Technical Artist at Koffeecup! Hungry for overcoming challenges and thirsty for learning new approaches, he uses new and old techniques from his arsenal to solve any technical problem.

Benjamin’s secret weapon for productivity? Closing his office door to keep his cats from hijacking his keyboard—after all, a cat on a mission is a force to be reckoned with! If he could have any superpower, it would be to freeze time, giving him the freedom to savour life’s precious moments… or to simply sleep more! ;p (We can all empathise with that.)

Gaming is where Benny has always wanted to work as for him it delivers an experience beyond anything he could ever think of. His favourite game of all time is“Ico”, but nowadays he mainly enjoys time with friends playing co-op games on the couch. (Sounds like the perfect bois night!)

As Benny would say: “Ta-taaa for now!”

, what a tsunami of valuable insights and a catalyst for networking!

We had some time to digest the plethora of information, get some rest and sneak in a few foot massages – because if there’s one thing to takeaway from the entire week, it’s to wear comfortable shoes!

So, out of all the panels, discussions and ads, what resonated the most with us?

🎭 Humour’s Big Comeback: Humour is effectively being used more. Even though data shows that brands using humour have a massive increase on customer retention, acquisition and sales, 95% of business leaders still fear using humour in their comms.

🎮 ‘Gaming’ as a unique branding opportunity: Similar to how the concept of Web3 was expansive and needed clearer communication to the broader audience, gaming’s vast and diverse nature opens up exciting possibilities for innovative categorization and marketing.

🏈 “Gamers” → “Players”: One little change in naming can have a huge impact. One company tested this by using the term “Players” instead of “Gamers” to clients – it shifted the clients’ sentiment positively. This shift helps to break down preconceived notions and emphasises inclusivity.

👻 Breaking Down Fear: Brands often hesitate to engage with the gaming community, fearing mistakes in a vast and complex ecosystem. Understanding this landscape is crucial for effective engagement.

Meet Kaycie, our talented UX Designer from across the pond in the US. She enjoys empathising with the player, turning user insights into ideas, and feelings into data!

Kaycie starts her day with her favourite productivity hack: lots of coffee and a good playlist. When she’s not shaping user experiences she’s reading comics or tending to her collection of carnivorous plants.

Need a shopping buddy? Kaycie’s got you covered, not only for remembering reusable bags but also for her unexpected expertise in Muay Thai—definitely a unique skill for a designer!

Gaming holds a special place in Kaycie’s heart. From squabbling with her brother over who gets to play Zelda, handing out beatdowns in Super Smash Brothers with Princess Peach, or getting lost in Final Fantasy cutscenes, she’s always been drawn to gaming.
