The first Select Committee on the Petition was held yesterday morning at Stanley's Court and Council Chambers.

The petition looks to reduce or abolish VSAT licences and for the Communications Regulator to give regulatory approval for Starlink to offer domestic tariffs in the Falkland Islands.

Thursday 6th June marked the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings where over 156,000 allied servicemen stormed the beaches of Normandy.

Two Falklands serviceman, Flt Lt Norman McCleod & Field Nurse, First Class Robert Rumbolds took part in the operation during World War 2.

We joined members of the community in an act of remembrance at Moody Brook where a beacon was lit by the Fire & Rescue Service.

The 29th of May marked the 42nd anniversary of the liberation of Goose Green.

During the 1982 conflict, Falkland Islanders were held prisoner in the Goose Green Community Hall for almost four weeks by occupying Argentine forces.

The forces of 2 Para arrived on the 28th of May and the people of Goose Green were liberated on the 29th.

A service and act of remembrance for those who lost their lives onboard SS Atlantic Conveyor was held at Cape Pembroke on Saturday.

SS Atlantic Conveyor was hit by two Exocet missiles on 25th May 1982, with the loss of 12 men on board, including the ship's master, Captain Ian North.

Members of the community gathered at the cemetery in San Carlos on the morning of Tuesday 21st May to mark the landing of British forces in the bay 42 years ago.

A service was held to commemorate and remember those who lost their lives, in attendance were veterans of the conflict, representatives of the FIDF, members of the Falklands Legislative Assembly and the Acting Governor of the Falkland Islands.
