Near the waves where
secrets dwell,
A mermaid's tale does
softly tell,
Of Christmas cheer and
festive glee,
A tree adorned beside the sea.

Her hair of scarlet,
flowing bright,
She glides in soft,
enchanting light,
With hands so gentle,
grace divine,
She decorates her ocean pine.

Breathtaking stars from
ocean's deep,
On branches green, they
softly sleep,
And shells that glisten,
pearls so rare,
She places with a tender care.

A wreath of seaweed,
coral beads,
She twines with love, for joy
it breeds,
Each decoration, pure delight,
Reflecting in the sea's
soft light.

The sea creatures come from
far and near,
To join the mermaid’s
festive cheer,
With beauty rare and
spirit free,
A festive symphony of love
and glee.

The internet tells me that today (June 8th) is World Ocean Day, which aims to encourage collective action for a healthy ocean and a stable climate. In line with that here is my painting of the Water Elemental Sorceress who is a mermaid, and here summons her magic in the form of a dragon head bursting out of the waves. Flying fish leap around her in the clear blue water.
