I don’t often share completed films on my grid but this one felt relevant today on the eve of the Jewish new year - a year that has felt impossible to bear and changed our lives in so many ways. I often wonder - ‘If’ only we could go back to pre October 7th. But that ‘if’ sadly cannot be, so we have to place everything on our ‘ifs’ for the future and alongside the ‘ifs’, - hope. Hope for peace and a better world for everyone.

Today is International Charity Day!
A big proportion of my clients are charities so I’m shouting out today to the wonderful people who drive charities forward. I feel privileged to work with so many great causes and great people.
Each project gives me the opportunity to amplify voices that often go unheard and showcase the hard work being done to improve lives and uplift communities 🎥
I also get to understand and see the sheer amount of work that goes on behind the scenes and see incredible examples of humans doing amazing things!
This is one of my favourite shots (and BTS) from the @foodbankaid campaign we worked on earlier this year @golden.ticket.productions which sums up my post… A whole community coming together of volunteers - from school children right through to retirees.

It’s begun…
The summer juggle came on in full force for us at the end last week
7 weeks ahead of figuring out the best way to keep my trio entertained whilst keeping clients happy
Of getting a balance of family time whilst meeting deadlines and commitments
It’s always tough
but I know one of the benefits of being self-employed means fewer layers of complexities / asking for time off etc
And we’ve made it work the previous few summers
Perhaps with just a little less sleep and more rigorous diary blocking
Best of luck to anyone else in the same boat
If you do get a day off with the kids I’d highly recommend the @hitchinlavender where we found ourselves on day 1

This year has been a rollercoaster to say the least. Our creativity has been pushed, our limits have been stretched and resilience has been tested whilst the world feels like it has shifted off course.
Looking back at some of the films and video content I have made both in a freelance capacity and via the production company @golden.ticket.productions I set up and co run with my brilliant partner in crime @jemmajd just over a year ago fills me with pride. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some fantastic clients, agencies and suppliers - many of whom I’m lucky to call friends and we are ending the year knowing that the films we have made for campaigns (either the main film or supporting video content) have helped our charity clients raise over £6.5m!
2024 is getting booked up well into March so don’t hang around in the new year if you’ve got video content you need - from big campaign films to social reels we have you covered. Till then we are switching off for a few days and will see you on the other side!

Capturing the stories of your loved ones on camera is something everyone should do…
I wish I’d thought to do this with my own grandparents when I had the chance.
After sharing details of Moviebytes Ltd services the other day we’ve had a number of enquiries about life story videos so I thought I’d share some more information.
These are my absolute favourite videos to make. I love being able to listen and take in the stories of older generations, knowing it will help them to live on through their children, grandchildren and beyond.
Even if the person being interviewed hasn’t had particularly ‘eventful’ life experiences - just being able to capture the sound of their voice, details of how they met their spouse, what the world was like for them growing up and so on is beyond precious.
Doing these videos takes me back to my past life as a qualitative researcher where I was lucky enough to travel around the world, interviewing people from all walks of life and understanding their stories and experiences. Much of the interviewing was about putting the participant at ease and ensuring they felt comfortable enough to open up in a secure space.
We also offer ‘reverse’ life story videos where instead of the person who the video is about is on camera, we have all of their loved ones on camera, speaking about them - sharing favourite moments and memories. This can be edited into a beautiful gift for them and works particularly well for milestone birthdays and occasions.
A specific question we’ve also had this week is whether the film can be transcribed should the client also wish to turn the footage into a book and this is absolutely something that is possible.
