Good to see Peter Gray's books for sale at Nairn Bookshop! Top shelf too, Drums of Drumnadrochit, the first book in the Avalon Crime / Detective series, based in the Scottish Highlands.

Alex McGlashen has begun work on another local history book. It has a working title of A Tale of Fishing, but that may change. The book will be a companion title to go with his other collection of stories called, A Tale of Crofting and will be in the same series as Barbara Jane Gray's, A Taste of Crofting.

I have been refurbishing the Drums of Drumnadrochit over the last month - mainly the cover to add the new book images on the rear.
It's odd looking back at a book that was published eight years ago and started ten years ago.
The new cover will be on the reprint once the current version is sold out.

I am pleased to announce that the second Bethran book, Storm Serpents, will be on sale early in March. It's a wee bit earlier than we thought, but things are moving quicker than expected. The third book has also been confirmed, but there is no date as it is still in the ideas stage. The working title is The Lair of the Artorix and there is a draft of a cover for the book in the works. I may release an image of this soon.
I should also have some more news soon on another project too.

The cover for Storm Serpents has had a little tidying up and here is the final version that will appear on the book.
The book is now finished and the manuscript is going through a final edit. I have no date for launch as yet but it will certainly be ready for the spring.

A lovely post from Barbara Jane Gray ....

A first for me today! My first book published. It is a historically based recipe book, not vegan but with some vegan versions of old recipes. Just delivered and still warm after being HOT OFF THE PRESS!!!
Took a lot of work and research but it's great to see it in print!
Thanks to so many people including, Louise Bailey, Isla and Skye Bain for their lovely drawings I used for some of the illustrations inside the book, Peter Gray for his help, tips and genius with the cover and of course, Tricky Imp Publishing, Laidhay Croft Museum for the inspiration whilst working there. I have used the original spelling of Lhaidhay in the book in case any of you thought it was a spelling error.

On another subject, as a small business owner, I have thought about the many ways people can help to support each other. It doesn't always need people to spend money, just a little time and support.
Wouldn't the world be a better place if more small businesses were thriving? One in the eye for such as Tesco etc!

Vegan author, Peter Gray is writing the 6th Detective Avalon book (the 1st book in the second series), Plague Witch which will be available in time for Christmas during November.
The series is contemporary and based in the Highlands of Scotland, with strong characters, stunning locations and just a hint of humour! The first in the series is called The Drums of Drumnadrochit.
Many of you will know and love Peter's work and will have seen his books in Waterstone's, Inverness. Unfortunately, due to them being unable to restock as the COVID 19 situation is causing staff shortages, Peter's books can mainly be found on his website.

Just a news update - taken from the website.

AVALON SERIES TWO
The first book in the Second Avalon Series (number six) is almost finished, though the working title of Dangerous Waters has been changed. This is in response to the series being truly contemporary and a new story has been devised around current events. The title will be Plague Witch with Four and Twenty Virgins being book seven.
Book eight has a working title of To Catch A Selkie, but the last two books still have no title at this stage.
Obviously, things are quiet in the industry at the moment and so the launch date of Plague Witch is still unknown.

BETHRAN - NEW SERIES
The first book of the Pictish based series is finished, and the cover artwork has been completed. The story is set around 690 AD and is based along the east coast of the Highlands. It is a story that follows life during the time of the Picts and the title for the first book is 'Bethran - Seer of the Picts' and initially, there are three books planned. There is still doubt about the launch date as the book industry has slowed due to the covid crisis.

The historical adventure story set just after the Battle of Culloden is still a work in progress, but this will be now be released after the Pictish series.

Also, here is the artwork for the Plague Witch.
