Hello everybody!

This will officially be the end of MUKA as we know it. After nearly two years of writing, photographing, coordinating, publishing, curating, DJing, promoting and founding in and around the Manchester DIY scene it is now my time to leave.

Me and my partner have left the country and are on a long trip around the world (currently in Thailand).

I wanted to say thank you to all the people I have worked with, the people I have interviewed, music I have played, bands I have put on, friends I have made and the opportunities brought to me through this project.

Especially big thank yous to and for being stand out projects and communities that I and MUKA became part of over the last few years.

Manchester you are great, stay classy.

This Sunday we return to our monthly residency at from 5pm till 7pm.

I’m currently away in the states and so we have some new hosts taking over the show for me, welcome

In this two hour show, Sam and Harvey will display and celebrate the uniqueness of the Manchester Music scene. This will be done through their lens, after starting a band (pyncher) over lockdown and stumbling across this pool of talent and community.

The main aim is to bring people who have made the community what it is (from their perspective as newcomers) and talk to them about their favourite local musicians, venues, clubs etc. This will include photographers, musicians, promoters, bloggers, writers, artists, poets, videographers, venue owners, and everything else!

Expect guests and music such as

is a new addition to the burgeoning Manchester art scene. Functioning as a art space that hosts community engaged art, exhibitions, international residencies whilst also putting Longsight on the map.

It is ran by co-directors Chi Emecheta and Chris Bailkoski. Chris has also founded well know art organisation and the infamous city centre bar, eatery and multi purpose venue .

Together their knowledge and experiences are creating a space for the community of Longsight to learn more about art, engage with the community through producing art and invest into the local area and local people.

We caught up with co-director Chris to learn everything about the new institution ahead of exhibition PROFORMA X BEGEHUNGEN 2022: Long-heim & Thal-sight which opens at the space on August 11th.

Thank you to the whole team that put it all together including and the rest of the team! And to the vendors for making the event as special as ever!

I wanted to take this opportunity to tell all of you loyal followers that we are nearing the end of MUKA.

Me and my partner will be leaving the country in October and we have lot of work to do before leaving, as well as a summer holiday.

MUKA started out of as idea to make friends and start a community by providing a platform to voice the small, underground creatives within Manchesters bustling city. Since it’s inception we have wrote 90 stories on you lot, curated exhibitions, collaborated with internationally recognised art hubs, founded a music festival, raised money for charities, founded a fashion fair, put on countless gigs, joined a record label, reviewed music, played music on multiple radio stations and made some really amazing friends including .mcgillivray who’s in the first picture with her great sign!

We still have some stories to come out but they will be slower than normal. You can expect a podcast with a true DIY record label, a story about a tenant, a new project by founder of and director of , a community space in Moss Side and some great radio shows.

Closing party will be announced soon.

Thanks so much, Evan.

The next instalment of SCUM BEFORE U CUM, a collaboration with and : a night of noise, performance, music and art celebrating s*xual freedom and expression in aid of *xpressionmanchester . Championing q***r and female art and noise in Manchester.

Recent years have seen s*xual health clinics across Manchester lose vast amounts of funding, making something as quick and simple as an STI test a long waiting game. Sexual health clinics are important for the social navigation of women and LGBTQ+ persons, often the only institutions which take our bodies and choices seriously. Sexpression Manchester offers free s*x education and advice to young people, aiming to empower them in making informed choices about their reproductive health and s*xual wellbeing- a crucial platform in times where access to such information is being threatened by the increasing cuts and privatisation of the NHS.

Tickets start at £5 on sale now. 20% form all ticket sales will go to *xpression who will be providing free contraception and s*xual health advice on the night.
