This is just to let everyone know the March edition of the newsletter will not go out. This is because of a bereavement. I'm hoping that at some point it can return and I promise to keep you updated. Tina Robins

WE’RE looking for a cover shot for the March edition of the Winterton Newsletter, but it has to be a corker! High resolution image if possible and portrait (upright) format. It can be spring related, Mother’s Day or just a stunning picture of the village. Remember to shoot it portrait! 😀

Thanks to everybody who joined us at The Fishermans Return for another fabulous Burns Night Supper - organised by our Vice Chairman, Terry Byrne - thanks so much Terry! It was a great evening with good food, good company and we hope you all enjoyed your evening. Thanks to all those who donated Raffle Prizes and, of course, to the hardworking Fisherman's staff too who took great care of us all. Well done Kenny!

Well done Kenny!

We had a mishap at training today during a sequence of launch and recovery of the ILB. We lost an important lever to raise and lower our trailer guide wheels.

Despite our best efforts, we were unable to locate the missing equipment. Thanks to Kenny Chaney and his metal detector, all was not lost.

Daniel reached out to Kenny and explained our plight, and he came to our rescue and recovered the now-buried lever within a few minutes of searching in the loss area.

The bar had been buried by the power of the tide and was not visible. Had it not been for the metal detector and Kenny Chaney, that could have been an expensive loss for us.

Great work, Kenny; thanks again for your timely assistance; it is very much appreciated.

We're still looking for that special cover shot for the November newsletter. Portrait format (preferably). Anyone got anything? It would be good if it were topical/seasonal, but not essential. We were spoilt for choice last month (see unused dummy below).

Watch this space ..... we're working on an event for the Christmas festive season. More details to follow when it's all sorted (and a great big thank you to Dona whose idea it was and is taking it forward!).

An Exhibition Not To Be Missed:

This is an exhibition that is well worth visiting. Many of you will know what great support the late Ernie Childs and his wife Karen have shown us over the years, and Karen continues to support us today. Please do take some time to visit this exhibition; all proceeds will be going to the Ernie Childs Memorial Fund.

The exhibition is on from the 26th of September through to the 9th of October, and you will be able to see some of the fine works created by the much-loved Ernie as well as rare books and documents which are for viewing and some select items for sale also.

Entry is by donation, and we hope you will join us in supporting this exhibition. As the publicity says, this may be the last time you can view this collection in this historic setting.

Hemsby Lifeboat would also like to extend an invitation to view some of Ernie’s works of art which can be seen at the Lifeboat Station. If you wish to view these paintings, we are open for viewing on Wednesday Evenings and Sunday mornings until lunchtime. You can also contact our secretary at: [email protected] or message to arrange a private viewing at a more convenient time.

THE announcement of HRH Queen Elizabeth’s death happened after this month’s newsletter was printed. These pictures were sent to us by church warden Philip Laker-Jones, who would like to thank those who came forward with Union Flags, which have been used in the church for a memorial to Her Majesty the Queen. A book of condolence will be available for members of the public to sign at the Village Hall in King Street tomorrow Saturday 10th September 11am to 12am. Afterwards, it will be held at the Holy Trinity and All Saints Church in Bulmer Lane which will be open daily 9am to 5pm. A suitable flag will also be flying from the church tomorrow.
