Become A Mentor At Turriff Academy

Hi everyone, I’m Lesley Chapman and I am the MCR Pathways Co-ordinator for Turriff Academy.

I deliver the Young Talent Programme in school to several of our young people from S1 right through to S6 which includes our mentoring programme.

Our young people are matched with their mentors based on their interests, career paths and life experiences. They meet with each other for an hour a week during school time where they catch up, chat about everything and anything and take part in different activities. Our mentors offer great support to our young people, and it is fantastic to watch their relationships develop and their confidence grow.

We are delighted with the positive impact the mentoring programme has had so far in our school, however, we want to increase the number of young people receiving this support - This is where you come in.

We would love for the Turriff community to get involved and support our young people. All you need is to be over 21, can give up 1 hour a week and are passionate about helping our young people. You can make a real difference.

If you would like to learn more, then please join us for an in-person information session at Turriff Academy on Wednesday 8th November, 6 - 6.45pm

At this short session, you'll have the opportunity to meet with the MCR team, find out more about the MCR Pathways Young Talent programme, and ask questions.
This event will last approximately 45 minutes and is free to attend.

BOO! THE 2023 Turra Spooktacular Spooky Trail is now go!
The trail will run from 10am today until 8pm tomorrow.
Voting for your favourites will open tomorrow.
Maps are available from BROWN THE BUTCHERS on Main Street. As this is a fundraising event we have suggested a donation of £2, but the most important thing is that this event is available to all so if you can't afford that don't worry please just pick up a map anyway!
All of our ghostie hosts are super enthusiastic and excited for everyone to have a good weekend having fun and making memories 👻❤️
The forecast this morning is DRY so let's go go go!
P.S. this weekend is also the last chance for pumpkin hunts, they're available from Brown The Butchers for £1.

It's a bumper weekend this weekend!
We have Doors Open Days and North East Open Studios (NEOS) running Saturday and Sunday with various venues locally.
On Saturday we have THREE coffee mornings for you to choose from between 10am and noon! Phew!

☕️ Turriff and District Rotary Club /Scottish Air Ambulance
On Sunday the Morris Minors Rally (SNEMMOC) will be at Fyvie Castle between noon and 4pm - not quite Turriff but definitely close enough!

This club is FREE to drop in.

👉 Light House youth club is a safe, warm and relaxed environment for youth of Turriff and close surrounding villages to pop in on a Friday night to chill, play games in the hall, meet new friends, play computer, play a game of pool... throughout the year we like to go with the youth on trips (bowling, activity centres, Innoflate)

👋WELCOME TO all the new S1's, come check the place out.

👀 We also welcome any parents/guardians to come along meet team and have a look around.

As it is a club we always need volunteers to keep something like this running so
PLEASE DO GET IN TOUCH IF YOU WANT TO VOLUNTEER 🫵
It's rota run to work around you, once a month, once every couple of months etc.. we put you through PVG checks also available First Aid Training and other training as needed 😀
