Back at my desk, and busy going through my footage and photos from the Costa Rica trip.
I wanted to clean up the footage and sound from this little chap. They are tiny and like to live on the forest floor, where there is very little light. So I needed to really pump up the ISO. While the Canon R5 handles low light well, this was pushing it, so I had to resort to using Topaz Video AI to clean the worst of the grain. Then Adobe Audition to clean the distracting background sounds out.

Yesterday was a very, very long day - 2.40am start in Manchester to fly to Paris, then Paris to San José in Costa Rica. Then a 4 hour drive to Selva Verde Lodge in the mountains - arrived here at about 9pm local time. Despite a very long day without sleep yesterday, I still woke up after 4 hours to the sound of a grumpy monkey outside and then Howlers in the distance somewhere.
One of the first things I filmed this morning was this little chap - Strawberry Poison-Dart Frog, also known as a Blue Jeans Frog (you can just about see why). I was surrounded by them. This is a very rough cut done on the hoof (no time to clean up the sound or the grain, and I really hope I can get rid of the talking).
I’m now worried that the 2Tb drives I brought are not going to be enough, there is so much life here. And the humidity is at around 2350%.
