George Gamble’s Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship attack got better today despite the #42 started

Saturday's qualifying retiring on the out lap with an incident, putting Gamble at the back of the grid in P11 In Class & P22 Overall.

Sunday’s Race One was exceptional , picking off 14 positions ending in P6 In Class and P8 Overall.

Second race of the day was just as exciting putting the Rosland Gold by Century Motorsport team on edge.Starting P8 and finishing P2.

Taking fastest lap in both races🏁🏁

He “put the cherry on the cake” to end the weekend and leaves Donington Park in 3rd spot with 73 points and the team taking P3 place too.

On to the next round at Silverstone in 4 weeks.🏁

Kwik fit British Touring Car Championship Donington Park GP - Qualifying Highlights…… 🏁

LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ's Josh Cook came out on top of a breathless qualifying session for Round 24 of the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park (24 August).

The 20-time BTCC race winner claimed his first pole position in more than two years and on Toyota UK's home soil, with the road-going Corolla produced less than 15 miles away at Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK (TMUK) in Burnaston.

The final session had a host of the BTCC's big hitters included with Team BMW's Colin Turkington chasing an incredible hat-trick of successive pole positions – and potentially his fourth of the season – but the four-time champ had to settle for second following a fantastic effort.

Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing has been one of the star squads of the season and the success continued around the legendary Grands Prix circuit as Mikey Doble backed-up his pace-setting practice performance with third during qualifying. Team-mate Aron Taylor-Smith also made it into the headlining 'Quick Six' finale, finishing sixth after the final segment.

Title chasers Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK) and Tom Ingram (Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS) also progressed to the 'Quick Six' and eventually had to settle for fourth and fifth respectively.

Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport's Jake Hill is just slightly further back in seventh, ensuring that a number of the championship challengers are closely positioned on the grid for tomorrow's opener.

Adam Morgan (Team BMW), Dan Cammish (NAPA Racing UK) and Tom Chilton (Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS) rounded out the top ten positions.

Ingram leads Hill by three points in the overall Drivers' standings, with reigning champion Sutton a further 17 points in arrears. Cammish, Turkington and Cook remain in contention to win the most coveted prize in British motorsport, but each of them may need a strong day tomorrow to their hopes alive.

Kwik fit British Touring Car Championship Donington Park - Free Practice 2 Highlights…..🏁

Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing's Mikey Doble hit the top of the timesheets in the closing seconds of Free Practice 2 as the eighth race weekend of the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship continues apace at Donington Park.

Dan Rowbottom looked to be topping a NAPA Racing UK 1-2-3 to follow on from the champion team's early domination of FP1. Dan Cammish was second ahead of Sutton until Doble's hugely impressive late flyer, meaning the Ford Focus squad had to settle for second, third and fourth respectively.

Andrew Watson qualified a season's best third on the Donington Park National Circuit during the 2024 curtain-raiser and the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK talent clearly enjoys the venue, as he clocked the fifth fastest practice time around the legendary Grand Prix circuit.

Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport's Jake Hill improved to take sixth ahead of what could be a pivotal qualifying session for the title contender, whilst Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing's Aron Taylor-Smith was seventh.

A trio of drivers enjoyed a top ten morale boost with Chris Smiley (Restart Racing), Aiden Moffat (LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ) and Adam Morgan (Team BMW) completing the front-running order.

Two of the BTCC's most experienced drivers – Tom Chilton (Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS) and Rob Huff (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK) – failed to set a lap time, with the latter having the engine changed in his #12 Toyota Corolla.

Kwik fit British Touring Car Championship Donington Park GP - Free Practice 1 Highlights….

Dan Cammish and NAPA Racing UK team-mate Dan Rowbottom traded blows during the opening Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship Free Practice session at a damp Donington Park.

A steady start to the wet proceedings eventually burst into life when Cammish set a proper benchmark, which was soon bettered by stablemate Rowbottom. The #27 car of Cammish immediately responded, however, with his 1:41.679s lap time being good enough to secure P1.

Persistent light rain throughout the session meant lap times were particularly hard to look into, but it was clear that the NAPA Racing UK Ford Focuses were well set-up in the wet, with reigning champion Ash Sutton also riding high in fourth.

Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS' Tom Ingram was best of the rest in third, but more than half a second off the pace, whilst the top six was rounded out by Árón Taylor-Smith (Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing) and Josh Cook (LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ).

Tom Chilton was seventh in his #3 Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS Hyundai, having led the way during the early running, whilst TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK's Andrew Watson was next in the order.

The other two Toyotas in the field – Rob Huff (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK) and Aiden Moffat (LKQ Euro Car Parts with SYNETIQ) – both endured mixed sessions. Huff brought about the only red flag after going off in the early moments, whilst Moffat experienced the same fate at the Old Hairpin as the chequered flag waved.

Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing's Mikey Doble and Team BMW's Colin Turkington completed the top ten order.
