Hackers have reportedly compromised many popular Google Chrome extensions.

As Reuters reports, that includes Cyberhaven, a tool intended to help businesses stop unauthorized employee access to company information.

In a blog post, Cyberhaven CEO Howard Ting confirmed that a "malicious cyberattack...occurred on Christmas Eve." The attacker phished a Cyberhaven employee and used their credentials to log into its Chrome Web Store account. The hacker then pushed a malicious version of the Cyberhaven Chrome extension. That version was removed within 60 minutes, Ting said.

Only Chrome-based browsers that auto-updated during this period were impacted, Ting added. "For browsers running the compromised extension during this period, the malicious code could have exfiltrated cookies and authenticated sessions for certain targeted websites," he said.

🔧 Update on the HP All-in-One rebuild! 🔧

The Windows 11 installation didn’t go quite as planned—turns out the Adata SSD we received was faulty. We’ve had to return it to our supplier, and a replacement is on its way! 🚚

We’ll have the system up and running soon, so stay tuned for further updates tomorrow once the new SSD arrives.

🚀 Insight into one of many jobs we undertake at Alpha Comms UK! 🚀

We recently received an HP All-in-One computer in need of a rebuild. The old hard drive was slowing down, making the computer unusable at times.

Our task? To upgrade the hard drive and reinstall Windows, but with a twist: we’re keeping it streamlined by only installing the essential apps—basically, de-bloating the system for better performance.

Here’s what we’ve done so far:
• Replaced the hard drive with an Adata SSD
• Cloned the old drive using EaseUS
• Created a Windows 11 bootable USB with the Microsoft Media Creation Tool
• Started installing Windows 11

Microsoft 365 is planning to add PST (Personal Storage Table) file support to the new Outlook for Windows and Mac in early 2025. This move aims to address concerns from long-time Classic Outlook users who felt the new Outlook app lacked feature support, particularly with PST files.

The first phase of PST support has already been rolled out, providing read-only access to mail items within PST files. Users can open PST files, read emails, and search for emails within these files. However, calendar, contacts, and tasks data saved in PST files are not yet accessible.

Future updates will expand PST support capabilities, including managing emails in PST files. Microsoft has also confirmed plans to add PST support to Outlook for Mac, which will allow users to import PST files into the app.

This development is part of Microsoft's efforts to improve the new Outlook experience, which includes enhancing offline mode support and adding other features to make the transition from Classic Outlook smoother.

🚨 Calling all Microsoft Outlook users, especially those using Classic Outlook! 🚨

IMPORTANT: Microsoft will automatically switch users to the New Outlook in January 2025!

𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲:

Starting in January 2025, users with Microsoft 365 Business Standard and Premium licenses are automatically migrated from the classic Outlook for Windows to new Outlook for Windows.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧:

- Microsoft 365 Business Standard - January 6, 2025
- Microsoft 365 Business Premium - January 6, 2025
- Microsoft 365 Enterprise - April 1, 2026

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

Users will automatically be switched to the new Outlook after receiving a series of in-app notifications.

Users who switched to the new Outlook can toggle back to the classic Outlook if they choose through Outlook Options > General.

Disable this policy using Windows registry:

You can also disable it using:

- Group Policy (Download the latest Group policy)
- Cloud Policy
- Intune (Admin-Controlled Migration to New Outlook)

- Disable this policy if you still need to communicate this to your users
- Disable this policy if you still need to test the new Outlook for your organization

An article published yesterday by the The Wall Street Journal raises concerns about TP-Link routers potentially being linked to a Chinese cyber attack. While TP-Link has been a top seller on Amazon, this new report could change the landscape, especially in the USA.

Troubleshooting Network Issues? Here's a Handy Guide for Beginners! 🖥️📡

Struggling to get reliable Wi-Fi around your office or home? Don’t worry—we’ve got you covered with simple, effective tips to boost your signal and troubleshoot like a pro:

🔍 Tip 1: Analyze Your Wi-Fi Signal
For Android Users: Download a Wi-Fi analyzer app, connect to your network, and walk around. Look for areas where the signal drops—it’ll show how far your router’s range reaches.
For Apple Users: Connect to your Wi-Fi and do the same steps without the app.
Once you identify weak spots, here’s what to try:

Invest in Wi-Fi range extenders (check out great deals from !) to boost your signal.
Reposition your router to a more central location. Walls, floors, and distance can weaken your signal.

📶 Tip 2: Check Your Wi-Fi Channels
Wi-Fi operates on specific channels, but overcrowded ones can slow things down.

2.4 GHz Band: Use channels 1, 6, or 11 for the best performance.
5 GHz Band: Go for channels 36, 40, 44, or 48.
You can adjust channel settings via your router’s admin page. Refer to your router’s manual or contact your provider for guidance.

📡 Tip 3: Reposition Your Router’s Antennas
Point the antennas toward the areas where Wi-Fi is needed the most. This directs the signal to the right places, ensuring stronger connectivity.

🏠 Tip 4: Minimize Obstacles
If possible, eliminate even one wall between your workspace and the router. Even small changes can drastically improve performance.

⚡ Tip 5: Connect to the Fast 5GHz Band
Whenever available, choose the 5GHz band for faster speeds and less interference. Just ensure your device supports it!
